The DH spot gives players who have had defensive dificulties but still swing the bat good a chance to still play. for example I think the Nats would prefer to have Dunn DH-ing and have a better defender on the field.
but the problem is not selecting Harris over a pitcher is giving advantage to the AL teams in interleague player when they come to play the NL teams, they will be using their DH mostly sluggers, against NL teams that don't have a DH to start with, you get me?

Don't mean to doubt your loyalty or anything, but how can you say you're not a big fan of the DH and then come back and say your a huge Red sox fan?... I'm sorry but to me there's something wrong with that post...I mean one of the biggest reasons the Red Sox are where who they are is because of the DH (past and present)... Basically your just saying that you love the Red Sox but your not a big fan of David Ortiz ... that's like a Yankee fan saying they love the Yankees but they're not a big fan of Derek...

Again I'm not questioning your loyalty to the Sox (you might be a fan since way before I was born) but I just though I'd coment on it.

      still... Go Sox!!!

Interleague is split... they play half and half in AL and NL stadiums... so it evens out... and even then, I think the NL gets the advantage... for example, when the Sox visited the Phillies, you guys kept your strategy which was ok, while we had to change ours, and it costed us either Mike Lowel or David Ortiz. (two good batters) while when The phillies visit the Sox this year, they instead of having a pitcher batting will have Ben Francisco or some other good batter in that spot which will increase your (already very good) offense... and could even increase your defense (if you DH Ibañez, and have Francisco play field) while ours stays the same. big winner?? the NL teams.

P.S. and still at a disadvantage... you remember what happened in philly.

          Re: DH or NO DH?

I grew up, and still live in St. Louis. Cardinals fan my entire life, so I'm going to say no DH.

Though I think for the most part, fans of AL teams love the DH. Fans of NL teams hate the DH. Personally, I hate that each league has different rules, but I would rather keep it the way it is, than adopt the DH to the NL.

I like to keep the rules the same as they are in real life, otherwise I, too, would have no DH in either league. It does add to strategy - more sacraficing, more stolen bases. The DH has only been around for less than 40 years. This game was more strategy than anything else before the inception of the DH.
I agree. DH= Boring (in video-game baseball) I'm fine with the rule the way it is IRL. I would rather have the pitchers bat in both leagues than have full time DH's.

As far as my video game baseball is concerned I prefer to use an NL team because I like the strategy of it. I mean, if you're pitcher's pitching a light-out game and the score is in a 1-0 game in the bottom of the 7th and he's due up to bat with a runner on 2nd and two outs, what do you do? Bring in a pinch hitter and let the bullpen try to hold on to the W or leave him in to hit for a almost sure out? Hmmm... Tough managerial decision... and I love it.

Also, why wasn't there an option for keep it the way it is?

ps. I'm a hard core Red Sox fan too, BTW.

              Re: DH or NO DH?

I prefer the strategy of No DH, and as a result I normally choose an NL team for my franchises.

That said, I picked the Twins this year just for a change.

FWIW I voted "No DH Both Leagues"...

                Re: DH or NO DH?

I didn't vote in the poll because I like the contrast between the NL and the AL. Both sides have different key decisions to make in-game as well as decisions regarding the lineups when one league plays another.

I'd hate to get rid of ANY of that as it offers such a nice variety to everybody.
