Re: Check Swing Appeal, On or Off
I would agree if you said 09 was random. I ended up turning the check swing appeal last year because of this.
This year is way different though. I would say that on 90% of check swing appeals I can tell you what the ump will call. I really can tell if I went or did not go.
It seems the button is way more pressure senistive this year, and thats a good thing.Comment

Re: Check Swing Appeal, On or Off
You can't cite the replays because, in my opinion, every check swing is a strike if you look at the replay except for the real short check swing animation.
It's like Russell said, it depends are the batter's plate discipline rating and how hard you pressed the button. Also, it depends on what the user contact slider is at since that adjusts the plate discipline.Comment

Re: Check Swing Appeal, On or Off
It's a matter of milliseconds that differentiate a no swing of a check swing. We may have the impression we released the button earlier but timers in the game don't lie. Good to hear the Discipline rating is part of the equation.Comment

Re: Check Swing Appeal, On or Off
yeah there's no balance. i have check swing on last yr and this yr and the two things i have issues w/ is that you get check swinged on so often, but when you're pitching against the AI, you don't see it at the same frequency... i'd rather have both situations be around what, 5 times per game lets say.... less frequent, and somewhat equal.Comment

Re: Check Swing Appeal, On or Off
I'll have to try this out. While it apparently isn't random per Russell, my atrocious inability to determine pitches until the last second gets me rung up on check swing appeals all the time (at least half of my k's). I'll have to give it a shot and see if I enjoy it better.Comment
