Started my franchise with the Royals on launch day, with an awesome walk-off win in the home opener....And then I lost 7 in a row.

I stuck with it, and am now in 1st place in the AL Central (by only 2 games).

I think my longest losing streak other than that opening one was a 5 gamer or so. Rattled off 11 straight wins in May that really got me rolling.

I'm 4-10 with the Angels and have no thoughts about starting over or picking a new team. Worst pitching in baseball as I rank at or near the bottom in almost all pitching categories. Bullpen is terrible they have blown a bunch of leads for me. Team can score runs and has power but low team BA and high strikeouts make it frustrating at times. However I think that its just a bad start and I have plenty of time to recover and get back on the right track. The only time I ever think about starting a over in a franchise is when it gets boring and thats only after a couple seasons.

not even a 30 game losing streak ( not that i've had one , mind you ) would deter me from finishing a season , but an unusually long winning streak is a reason i would restart & tweak settings &/or sliders

dude, if you've got plenty of 3-2 & 2-1 games , imo you have found the perfect formula as i do not mind the occasional high scoring affair but if every game is "arena baseball" , count me out

MY problem is that I look for it to SIMULATE MLB games and there is usually a lot more variance than 2-1 and 3-2. I am not a fan of high scoring games either but we see them more than I would like to in the majors.

Maybe I will just play out all 162 and hope for variance down the road. Very insightful comments from everyone though.

Last year in 09 with my Nats franchise I lost 18 games in a row. I got plagued with huge injuries and had to call up a bunch of guys from the minors who were not ready, but what are you gonna do. You can't start over in real life, so why do it in a game. If you want "realism" how can you start over. That's just me not trying to start anything.

I have started a practice franchise this year, waiting for V2 of Knights rosters. I have moved down to Rookie and I am just at .500 with my Nats after 10 games. I always play 10 games at each setting until I find what works for me.

I must admit my breaking point comes few times a day

Now I only played the game for few days but Im really bad at defense. I finally managed to get my stats to a realistic level but Im hovering over "turn off system" button after AI's 10th hit mid game

I guess I need to keep practicing since Im new to MLB Show. I've already switched to veteran lvl and decreased some AI sliders but I dont really want to cheat. I put their solid hits to 0 and contact/power down a notch but they still keep hitting that sweet spot around the field.. Oh well.

Not going to restart my franchise but I am going to take a little break because this game is driving me crazy!

I am now 5-8 with the Dodgers. I just went 2-4 on my first homestand after going 3-3 on my first roadie. My first game on my second road trip I was destroyed by cincy 12-6. This is on veteran lvl after playing last year 50% on vet and then 50% all star after I got the hang of it. I played 6 games this weekend and went 2-4. When I pitch well, I can't hit and when I hit decent, I get smacked around. I don't want to use the word scripted, but sometimes I feel like when you are supposed to lose, you lose. I even lowered my batting to rookie just to get some runs and you know what?, my normally outstanding pitching went out the window and I game up 6 runs.

I have read a lot of posts about people struggling in their franchises to start the season and I ask you, what percentage of people have a better than .500 record?

I'm playing an Orioles franchise with Psycobulk's sliders (except I hit on Vet, pitch on AS)...

I only play Matusz' starts and sim the rest...

Lost three of his games (so far) because I pitched stupidly in one and struck out or failed to hit in the clutch in the other two...

What's interesting is that at 4-16, I'm only slightly better than the IRL O's, and I figure, as frustrating as it's been, it's quite realistic and the (played games) losses were TOTALLY MY FAULT...

In previous years, I seemed to get better in 5 game increments, so hopefully my K totals will eventually be below 5 and I'll start timing hits to the gap, not choking with men on third and no outs, etc. and winning, so...

No...I won't quit...it'll make winning so much more satisfying after so much frustration...

From a couple gamers on another forum.

                          47-24

                          50-21

I'm 10-8 with the Nats. 5-8 isn't a bad record. The real Dodgers are 8-10.
I really believe this game can psych some people out and the placebo effect takes place. With the different levels and sliders you should be able to find your comfort level. If you need to play some exhibition games to find it, maybe you should, but don't know why 5-8 is so bad.

Man, I sware this has always been a problem for me. If the hits, strike outs, home runs, anything isn't to my liking, I get finicky and start thinking everything is out of wack!

I finally chose the Rangers to run with this year, I've always liked their hitters, and wanted to change leagues to mix it up from always using the Mets.

I've restarted my franchise 3 times now with the Rangers. I FINALLY feel like this is the one, and I'm gonna roll with it, or else when Skate 3 drops, I'm gonna be rippin' it up with Eric Koston or something haha.. But nah man, I love this game, it's definitely OCD or something with me, I'm gonna try and play all 162.

Heh after my agitated post I decided to start a Franchise and I magically won the first game ! (as Brewers against Colorado). It was 3-2 but very exciting. I scored 3 in the 1st by Fielder's homer when 2 bases were loaded. AI scored 1 in 3rd and 4th. On hits I think it was 8 to 6 which seems realistic doesnt it ?

I think I finally found some sliders that suit me. Had to leave AI solids at 0 and put mine to 3. Also took their contact/power and timing down a tad. This made them a little less wild on the hits it seems. Gonna try more games to see if AI isnt "too" weak now.

Only thing that bothers me now is the amount of fielding errors. Im afraid to tone the slider as it would make AI's fielding almost perfect wouldnt it?

I'm 11-5 in my Yankees season.
Actually I can't really complain as my team in MLB 10 is almost mimicing the Yanks so far. I have only lost 1 series, my second home series I dropped 2 of 3 to Texas who lit up my pitchers. I couldn't get Cruz and Vlad out to save my life. I won a 13 inning game at Oakland and lost the next game, also in 13 innings, to the same A's. I blew leads in the 8th inning of both games.
