My mistake, 22 second mark. When I paused it I looked at the timer on the right, instead of on the left. It just looks like somehow the ball becomes part of the mesh. Woodweaver explained it a heck of a lot better than I did.

Okay, call me crazy. On the bottom one, fair or foul. at the 13 second mark the ball definitely seems to hit and drops down and back for a few inches then travels forward and around the pole foul. The backwards, down trajectory that it takes would never happen, but it appears to hit.

It's got to be a problem with the collision detection.

Just to add to the chorus, I had the exact same thing happen to me in a game. The ball never appeared to hit the pole, and on replay it clearly didn't, but it was called a home run. The umpires did not review the call.

I have a video and will edit this post with it when I upload it. I'm guessing the game thinks it hit the pole, even though it obviously does not (there is no sound or change in direction).

This exact scenario happened to me against baltimore ( the hardest team for my bosox to beat it tunrs out ). I thought it was foul when it left the park, and then they called a video review, and it showed it CLEARLY being outside of the foul pole, but they gave them the homerun.

I was kind of mad because i lost that game by 1 run, and it was a solo shot, but i also thought of it like this:

Part of why i like this game is due to the umpires. You can set them up to have strike zones that differ from game to game, and in my opinion, that makes the game a bit more real and human since thats the way it really is.

Is it fair? No. Is it consistent? Not really, but is baseball? Nope. So when the ump stuck with the call that the homer the guy hit against me was fair, as mad as i was, i just chalked it up to that.

I mean i think every fan in baseball agrees that Jim Joyce's call on that perfect game was bogus. Even he admits it. Is it fair or right? Nope.

But thats what makes it feel more true. We make mistakes, and when they program in a tiny bit of erroneous stuff to keep the game more human, its great.

As long as its like .000001% of the time.
