Official Ruling of BB/HBP on Ball 4??
20 games in and this has happened to me twice. 3 Balls on my batter, then I get beaned. It credits my player with a BB as well as a HBP therefore over-inflating my OB%. My question is what is the official ruling on this? I would assume it is just a HBP with no credit for a BB? Anyone know for sure? Thanks in advanceTags: None -
Re: Official Ruling of BB/HBP on Ball 4??
It's just an HBP in real life. I have also seen this happen in the game. But, it's a rarity. What needs to be fixed is an error being charged to the catcher on ball four in the dirt. -

This happened to me yesterday, ball hit the dirt then batter. I guess its a minor glitch though, something that may get fixed next yrVi Veri Universum Vivus Vici

Hmmm...never thought about that. I will try that next time I throw ball 4 in the dirt. However, the CPU will still get charged with an error because I have no control over them.Comment

Re: Official Ruling of BB/HBP on Ball 4??
Yes that is true, but I don't really care about their catcher. Maybe the extra error will give my guy a chance to get a gold glove, lol. I honestly don't know if throwing to first helps keep you from getting an error or not. I just started doing after the first few errors and haven't gotten one since. It could just be coincidence.Comment

Re: Official Ruling of BB/HBP on Ball 4??
It turns out I was wrong. I had my first B4 error with my backup catcher, despite still throwing the ball to first. I guess it doesn't work after all. At least I can stop looking like a moron to my 25,000 fansComment

Re: Official Ruling of BB/HBP on Ball 4??
Off-topic, but my new habit when I walk the AI is that my catcher races the guy to first base. I always win the race.
Then I go right up to my first baseman and flip the ball to him, and laugh at the funny graphic of flipping the ball hard to propel it about one foot forward.
Mindless fun is fun!
