I feel the same way about the Astrodome. I have tons of sentimental value for it, but that place was a dump.

I dont think it started of as a dump just with age it turned into one. I never watched any sports game there in person only when the rodeo was held there and the hide-out bar. I agree completely, it's deteriorated pretty bad.

I loved the Braves Field idea! That's where Babe Ruth played his final game!

In a way they do, because "classic" can also simply mean historical... But I know what you're getting at. I like the two choices also because the turf playing surface changes the game and gives it a different feel.

When I did this list I was surprised because I thought there would be more, but really there's not that many others I'd consider. A few others I thought of including:

-Comiskey... The first one... Kinda too much like the current one.
-Sicks' Stadium... Home of the Seattle Pilots... Pretty much a AAA stadium.
-Memorial Stadium in Baltimore... Kind of basic and bland.
-League Park in Cleveland... Also pretty much a AAA stadium.

There are a few others too, but nothing that really stands out too much.
Please definitely include Comiskey Park! The baseball palace of the world. By the way, it looks nothing like the Sox current home. (The Cell - which is very bland) I frankly cannot see how anyone could say "kinda too much like the current one". You must not know Sox history very well. I've been hoping to see my favorite ballpark for many years in a game. I am hoping 2011 is the year!

^ They have similar dimensions... Similar foul territory... And a similar scoreboard in center. The bleachers are different, especially in the left and right.

Comiskey was #7 on my list. It has a long history too... One of the longer lifespans of any baseball stadium.

The last time I went to the Astrodome was Larry Dierker's first game back from the seizure ('99 maybe?) vs. Detroit Tigers and it was pretty craptacular. The stadium has been neglected for almost 10 years. I'm hoping someone finally decides to blow it down, it's an eyesore now.

I would like to see LA Coliseum, Angels Stadium pre 1997 (when it was configured for football) and pre 1979 (before the Rams moved in). Oh yeah, I would also like to see Seals Stadium in San Francisco and Old Comiskey Park.

I think Russell said several weeks ago that classic stadiums probably wouldn't be seen again. That's too bad because I love them.

My vote would be Riverfront, Astrodome and 3 River.

Why in the world would they take them out???

                    Licensing fees?

If anything... Let us use them without being connected to the PSN... But don't remove them all together.

                      Unfortunately, I think you're right.

Not that this has anything to do with it...but if I was SCEA...just the amount of moaning and whining surrounding them would make me say..."yep, that's enough of that!". They couldn't win with that one.
Too bad too.....I practically begged them for the first set of them and really had high hopes for future iterations.

They already have those six done... Just put them on disc from the get go... It can't be that hard...

Unless it has something to do with fees they are paying...

This would be a disappointing turn of events.

                          That stains.

I had a blast the other night playing the 32' Yanks vs the 31'A's in Shibe Park after watching Ken Burn's inning no.4.

Yea, I agree. You would think that the moaning would have been non existent as far as the stadiums went. They were such a beautiful addition to the game and I think SCEA really thought they were giving us something special.

I doubt they had any idea of the amount of complaining that would come along with them. One of the things that got me was the amount of complaining about having to pay for them AFTER we had a whole thread about it. Russell specifically asked if we would be willing to pay for them and the consensus was YES. Then they come out and so many got mad about having to pay for them.

I think the only way we will see classic stadiums again is if a game comes out that has only classic teams and classic stadiums. This happened several years ago when Stormfront Studios released Old Tyme Baseball for the PC. They could focus just on classic baseball to satisfy those of us who really like this stuff. Sony never seemed that interested in classic stadiums anyway. Unfortunately, we won't see this type of game until 2K loses its license. The Show is a good game, however I am still really looking forward for them to have lots of competition.

I agree, would be super to be able to go back in time. Who knows Sony might do a retro game or have it as an addon. Surely there is some strategy to them devoting programing & art time to making the Classic Parks.

On a side note, while playing againist the cards last night in Franchise I went with Sportsmans Park. Holy cow thats a cool old stadium!
