Re: CPU Releasing Players in Franchise?
Similar, but different: does the CPU ever sign free agents? I'm still just in year one and all the guys I signed and then later cut (non-sim "getting my roster the way I want it" moves) are still sitting there. Most notably Brandon Phillips has been there all season, but there are others like John Smoltz, Jarred Washburn, etc. who are rated way too high to just be sitting there.Comment

the cpu does sign free agents during the season, but its always youngins.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: CPU Releasing Players in Franchise?
When does this happen? I simmed my Franchise ahead to 2014 checking the free agent pool at the season start and mid-season and everything looked normal except the FA pool seemed saturated with relievers.RTTS: CL Antonio Ramos, drafted 1-4 by the Miami MarlinsComment

Re: CPU Releasing Players in Franchise?
It depends on the roster you are using as to when the problem occurs. Knights roster delays it about a year. The number of a potential players increases shooting salary up and established players are cut. The reason knights roster allows for the extra year is that he made some players that are a lower rated.
Similar to the end of the offseason and start spring training and you will see it. Usual players I see are lincecum, fielder, and many other.
I am going to try and run through the Sims again and try making some draft picks much older to retire and see if that eliminates the problem.Comment

Re: CPU Releasing Players in Franchise?
In my experience the issue is with starting pitchers getting overpaid. If you take a look at SP salaries for each team using Knights roster at the beginning of a 'chise then compare it a few years later you can see the issue.
Most teams not named Yankees, Red Sox , White Sox have one ace making a high salary, a number two making 4-8 million then some younger pitchers or vets with lower salaries. After a few years every team has 15 SP making millions. Knights roster does delay it a year, but it seems to me if you took the time to just control the SP RP CP salaries for each team you might be able to curtail some of the releasing of players.
I am hoping playing w/o a budget will solve it for me, if not controlling pitching contracts will be my approach.Comment

Re: CPU Releasing Players in Franchise?
Typically the teams I can trade them too are about half the league or a bit less. The other teams are over budget.
I havent needed to do this yet but if I run into it where most all teams are over budger then I will trade them the FA and take their player that I feel is the lowest rated with a high salary and then dump them.Comment
