Curious about other teams signings. I noticed last year teams signed players they didn't really need. I remember LaRoche signing with a NL team that already had a 1st baseman. Is that still a problem in this years game? Is their any logic used in Free Agent signings by the CPU?Comment

Re: Year 1 complete(possible spoilers)..?'s feel free to ask
In all honesty, unless they expand the rosters, the amateur draft is pretty handicapped in its current state. Most draft picks end up in Rookie Ball or A ball, amongst others, but given that you only have 90 players per roster, with 75 of them dedicated to AA thru MLB ball, the remaining 15 slots just don't utilitze enough space to hold a big draft, unless of course you force the user to choose between a draft pick and who's on his roster currently.
What I would like is to see rosters be expanded to 125 players. 25 for each A thru MLB ball, and then 25 slots for Rookie ball. You could have the user decide once he drafts players to choose whom he wants to replace with the incoming rookie. This would be done by a combination of; retirements, trades, or simply not renewing or releasing a player.
Until then, the draft has to be kept pretty much the way it is, to accomondate the small, in regards to baseball, roster spots available.
By the way, I am not trying to argue with you. I enjoy discussing this part of the game and getting other opinions on it. The draft and off season stuff, progression, player development; these things are my favorite part of the game. Nothing is more gratifying than getting a good pick and having him turn out to be a stud. And nothing is more frustrating than having that super star prospect fizzle out.Comment

I'll add to this answer in my offseason, I saw the Phillies add Berkman to their team. They still had Howard so he's been limited to pinch hitting duties. He's played in 26 games and has 37 AB's. I even traded Ibanez to open up LF for him but they start Francisco over Berkman.Seattle Pilots GM (2011 - ) Record: 152 - 195

Hey CB, have you started your second season yet? I was curious to see if the announcing changes, especially talking about what players did in 2009. Also, do they show gold gloves on the opening screen for those that earned them for you or any other team in 2010? I guess along those lines, is there any reference at all to 2010 stats?Comment

Great thread CB. How did Freese do for you last year?

Haven't noticed any changes to the commentary as far as talking about what happened last year(year 1). Dynamic commentary would take this game to a whole other level, and is something that I'm hoping is looked at/addressed/implemented next year.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

the logo year changes this year, which is good, but thats about it, as far as I've noticed. I'll have to double check the Gold Gloves question, but I'm 99% sure that its the gold glovers from '09.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

CB just curious as to what difficulty level you play on? I know you are a default slider guy like me.
I'm on All-Star with pitch speed zeroed (might have to increase that) and having a blast. And the opening day logos are a nice touchCurrently Playing:

Too bad on the commentary. I was hoping that I didn't have to hear about the resurgent Carlos Pena every game. I mean how many years does a guy have to put up big numbers before he is no longer resurgent? I guess I could always let him walk and pay the $25 million a year for Pujols.Comment

Hey CB, Just had a question about scouting, if I get a scouting report on a prospect is the initial information the only information that I'll get on that prospect? Or will more info show up during the season if I keep scouting him?Comment

I did adjust the pitch speed slider as well to help compensate for my ridding myself of GP. Back even that is back to normal.
And yes, I hate adjusting sliders.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
