      Re: Commentating in future titles.

The commentary is probably the weakest part of the games presentation. I've played MLB 2k10 as well, and it's night and day compared to the Show.

I love Skully. He's one of the reasons I get MLB extra innings every season. But I'm not sure if his style would translate well into a video game.

Chris Burman. No Way. Cant stand the guy. Besides, I can already see myself throwing my controller at the screen after hearing "back, back, back" for the umpteenth time.

I do like Jon Miller and Gary Thorn and think either one of them would be an upgrade.

But If I had one choice and it was up to me, id go after the Mets announcing team of Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, and Ron Darling.

With that said, even if you have great announcers, a lot of it still comes down to how they read their lines. So it's hard to say how good anyone would be..

If it was Miller it would almost break the game for me. I think he is one of the worst announcers in the game.
Kris Bryant doesn't hit homeruns, he destroys pitcher's dreams. #Bryantwatch

They should use commentators from Fox or some sort of station that broadcasts in many places.

I can't wait for the day that a game franchise has so much money, they have commentators from all teams in the game.

So whichever team you control, that's the commentator for the game(or have an option where you chose which teams commentators you use)

That would be insane, but don't ever see it happening.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I know this is not one of the choices, but I would say Daron Sutton. He is one of the most interesting broadcasters and has a lot of enthusiasm doing his job. If you don't know who this guys is, try looking him up.

How did I know he was the play by play guy for the Diamond Backs?

In all seriousness, he seems to be a cool guy, but I love Vasgersian.

                              Re: Commentator Discussion Thread

I think the 'problem' is that anyone is going to get stale after 4 or 5 years. It is what it is and we just have to deal with it. With contracts and such these days, a new crew is likely to sign a 3 or 4 deal, and in 3 or 4 years we will have the same threads. (It also makes sense from SCEA's perspective to keep the same crew for several years...that way they don't have to re-record EVERYTHING every year).

I'm not even sure who would be a good replacement...I really like Sunday Night Baseball, with Jon and Joe, but that's once per week (I voted for Jon). Vin Scully is probably my favorite in real life, pure poetry if you ask me, BUT there's no way it translates into a video game. I like Dan Schulman (sp?)...

I think, for sake of freshness, they need a new crew and they need to perfect the delivery. A three man crew can work if you put one of the guys 'in the dugout' and he only comes in a few times per game, and spare me the cheese that Rex brings. That would keep it fresh.

The idea of having multiple crews, and having it rotate (or random) would be great, but that is a massive undertaking (and would eat up a ton of disk space).

I didn't read the entire thread, so maybe someone mentioned this, but don't the current crew have 1 year left on their deal? I thought I read that somewhere...

                                Re: Commentator Discussion Thread

Keep Matty V. If they keep Dave Campbell, give the two more dynamic lines so there wouldn't be any awkward lines such as:

Matty V: Look at Tulowitzki get that one! And he's out at first on a gorgeous play.

Dave Campbell: Well, you said it Matt, he has to go blah blah blah. (All I know is that Matt never mentioned anything relevant to what Dave Campbell is saying here).

More stories between the two and I think someone already suggested this but have guests come into the booth once in a while during the games (they can be voiced by the developers if they wanted) and talk about some sort of fictional charity event, minor league days, etc.).

If they're going with a second color commentator, would it be possible to swap between the two (i.e. Campbell is in the booth with Matty V. for a series, then the next series it's the other guy).

I don't mind Matty V. at all, but it's the color commentary and the lack of progress in developing the commentary between the commentators that I think needs improvement.
