I've played since 08, so I understand the hitting system. I simply don't think it's a good one -- to complicated, and the bonus/penalty system is too much. More than that, I found that the most important thing is PCI location, and I simply don't have the patience to ever-so-gently shade it a certain way to affect quality of contact.

See ball, hit ball. Ratings and sliders do the rest.

Only way I can enjoy the game.

there should be some A potential guys sitting in free agency in that roster file. if you want i will post you berenja's formula for his harper cap. it's the second best one out there.

i'm getting frustrated also. My pitching staff is just getting hammered these days. It doesn't matter who i have pitching or who i'm pitching against. At some point the cpu is going to have a 4 run inning where i can't get anyone out.

Last night was one of those games that was the roller coaster for me. In my Braves franchise, I had Kris Medlan against the D-Backs who signed Braden Looper. Doesn't sound like a great match-up, but it was to my shock and surprise.

No runs until I got a single by Troy Glaus (I hadn't hit well all night) and I get a bloop from David Ross (in for McCaan's night off) which the D-Back RF dove for and miss which led to a TRIPLE FOR ROSS! Couldn't get him across though.

Bottom 7, had Jesse Crain (I am in season 2 and I got him as FA) in the pen getting warm and Medlan was pitching a gem. Got the first out of the inning no problem, but then on a pitch down out of the zone (change-up I believe) Mark Reynolds hits a blast opposite field to tie.

I was fuming so bad that I got to the top of the 9th trying to get a blast, but I calmed it down to scratch 3 across in the inning for a 4-2 win (gave up a run in the 9th). I love the emotions that this game brings out.

I find pitching in this game much more frustrating than hitting, when you are patient, hitting is not that hard. Just try to hit the ball up the middle, 80% of the time it results in a hit unless you get that stupid animation where the ball hits the pitcher, and ricochets right to a infielder, and the pitcher never gets hurt from it.

But pitching , especially on higher difficulty levels is very cheesy. The computer hits everything, even when you jam them, they magically hit it opposite field to a bloop single right on the line. Or the game just decides to give your pitcher no accuracy, and every pitch is either off the plate or right down the middle.

This is my kind of thread...I'm really struggling with this year's version of MLB. I've been playing baseball video games since the mid '80's and this series specifically since the '06 version.

My difficulty level usually falls somewhere between veteran or all-star level, but this year I'm struggling on Veteran and I've even started skewing sliders in my favor a bit. I really don't want to drop down to rookie

Playing as the Twins (which are a good team) I'm 18-27. My stats are pretty good, but I'm losing all the close games and I'm losing games late. In Team Stats I'm in the top 10 in most hitting stats, and in the top 15 in most pitching stats.

Great game, and probably the most challenging I've ever played...

another fantastic outing by my starter. 4 IP....11 hits...9 ERs. At one point the CPU had 7 straight hits against me. I guess i just need to lower the hitting sliders for CPU at this point.

i am about sick of this game. Not cause i cant win but because of the stupid idiotic pick offs by the cpu. Constantly getting me picked off cause my runners refuse to move back to the bag and just stand there like DUH and get picked off. i am so sick and tired of this crap. As a player, i have no control over this. Even if i hit the button to move him back to the base they just stand there when the throw is coming over plain as day

Lower pickoffs in the sliders for the cpu to 1. Thats what I had to do.

Yes I can sympathize, I find pitcher in this game a lottttttt harder than Hitting.
People when the computer feels like it, it can hit anything, even pitches out the plate they hammer. I remember yesterday I gave up 8 runs in a inning after shutting out the cpu for 4 innings. The computer got like 10 straight hits, and half of them were on pitches on the corner. I play on Hall of Fame for pitcher.

But on Legend, forget it, the opposing pitchers hit HR's like Albert Pujols.

I don't even bother leading off anymore. I also feel like you have no control on the jump. I time it perfectly and I still get a bad jump which means Rajai Davis is tagged out with a foot and a half to spare. If I time it wrong he can sometimes get a jump that makes it impossible for Pudge to throw him out on a pitch out. What really gets me is that when the jump is bad, the throw will be a perfect strike no matter who is throwing the ball (save for the rare error) and no matter if the pitch is a 69 MPH curve, but when the jump is good, the throw is always offline or high even on a fastball away. Therefore, I find myself running and hitting a lot. If I see the jump is good, I don't swing and the bag is mine. If the jump is bad, I pray for a pitch that I can just put into play.

Wow, finally won 3 in a row (Now 3-10 in spring). I play on legend in hitting and pitching and am starting to get the hang of it. At first, I was allowing bombs like crazy, but have learned to pitch with patience and scouting (now average 7K's a game). I only play on legend because I feel as if im ripping the CPU off by playing in anything lower. Of course to each their own, but im loving the challenge on legend.

You can pitch on Legend? I find it nearly impossible. The computer is imppossible to strike out.

Yea, I got the hang of it. Im not an expert but heres what i typically do. If the computer fouls off a pitch, misses, etc. I click the L3 button to see how they swung, where they positioned their yellow circle (dont know what its called), etc. I mix it up to the point where I feel I have the advantage. If I see that their yellow circle was "Superp" and ripped a fastball foul, I will go low and away with a slider and they will swing and miss. Takes practice to K 7 guys a game. I actually walk 3-4 per game as well trying to figure them out. Its actually fun because every at-bat is extremely challenging.
