So do I have to turn off any settings when not wanting to use the L-stick, or just don't touch it?

Might want to take PCI off if you've been using it.

I play with guess pitch on and PCI and Strike Zones off

I do not use it and I use CHdaughters Allstar/HOF sliders. I used to use the L-stick and all it really lead to was a lot of hard liner outs. After not using it my eye has become a lot better and hit variety is fantastic. Not always getting all of the ball lead to more choppers and bloopers. Also I sacrificed no power. As the twins and 20 games into my season I am second in HR's and have a .290 team average.

I do because I did when I played MVP.

Hmm I'm going to have to try playing a couple of games without using the left stick. I always use it and found myself in situations where i would have to guess the location of the pitch and used to pop up many high pitches because of my tendency to always aim down with the left stick on high pitches instead of aiming down. I even notice online that many of my opponents don't use the left stick who are very successful. Going to have to test this out a couple of times both off and online. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Unless I have a full count I always use the L stick plus the power swing. I hold it upwards a lot and get a ton of jacks that way. When I am at a 3 - 2 count I do not use the L stick and I contact swing with X.

I also hit up on the R stick pre pitch to try to drive it up & out of the park.

I really don't understand why people don't use the L-Stick. Just from a gameplay perspective, why would you want to be hitting the same exact way as you did from the NES and SNES era where all batting entailed was timing? I personally don't want batting mechanics to be the same as they were over 15 years ago.

I hardly ever use it...my pitch recognition, and plate discipline has improved drastically without it. there's really no need for it IMO.

As I said you get hit variety without it, there simply is no reason to use it unless you just want to.

I use it unless I'm down two strikes or I have a 3-0/3-1 and I'm only looking for a meatball over the plate.

Early or ahead in the count, I usually place it pre-pitch in a hot zone or a place where I can see the ball well. With an even count, I'll usually place it down because more often than not a 1-1 pitch is lower in the zone. If I hit two strikes, I tend to not place it because I'm protecting the plate, although I occasionally will move the stick if I have a hunch where the next pitch will go. When I'm way up, I also will usually leave it in the middle and look for a get-me-over pitch, with the occasional push up if I have a hitter with hot spots high in the zone.

Most of the time I don't move the L-stick mid-pitch unless I read a breaking ball early and have time to react to it.

Yes. I always use it. Ive gotten really good at using it and find myself hitting the ball hard most of the time.

Pretty much sums it up for me here. Same on both accounts.

That is BS. If you use the left thumbstick well, you hit much better. Why the F would they include it in the game if it didn't do anything ?

It's like real baseball. The batter just doesn't swing an even cut everytime he swings. He pushes.. He pulls.. he uppercuts.. etc..
