Since the A's have Bob Geren as their manager, I have to respond with a resounding Hell No to this one.
Seriously though, how many managers got fired this season? How many last year? It happens a lot in real life, so it should happen on the game. What's going to happen to the Cubs and the Braves next season? Rumor has it that Ryan Sandberg has a shot at the Cubs skipper. That couldn't happen if they imposed your rule. Forcing the CPU to choose a real life manager over a made up one is no different than forcing the CPU to sign a real player even if the drafted prospect is better. Now if you could edit managers and coaches, that could make it work for everyone. Edit real life managers if you like and then you could make sure that real life managers are more sought after as well as changing names of made up ones for further down the road. It would be cool if coaches progressed on the game as well so that that young hitting coach could someday work his way up to manager.
