I haven't tried default controls since I first got the game, I just remember not being able to get the hang of the AT ALL and switching to classic. Maybe I'll play an exhibition game or something and try them again.

Its rather easy as you use the left stick to highlight the runner and press the designated face button on where you want them to run to.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: I'm THIS close to snapping this disc in two
From what I've seen, the CPU has quite a few "dumb" plays when using auto baserunning and/or auto fielding. To me it kills any semblance of realism, but fortunately, the game is entertaining and fun to play, most of the time.

Re: I'm THIS close to snapping this disc in two
My problem with base running is more my guys pause at each base before running. CPU never seems to do it but it is very annoying when I get thrown out because the guy at 2nd or 3rd is apparently content with just staying there. Missed out on a cycle 3 times today because my guy just stops at 2nd even before the out fielder has gotten to the ball. Then I have to keep jamming the forward button to get him to start towards 3rd and is thrown out. It is that little pause that is what kills me. If only me or my teammate would not pause at a base we would do better. If I hit a double and the guy on 2nd doesn't get home then something is really wrong especially when it is normally either the SS or one of the OF that is before me depending on the starting pitcher.
I think it is the same problem you are having. I did it way to many times today. I tried the other base running controls but I get picked off so many times that it is just ridiculous. It got to the point where I turned pick offs off and by the way that has never worked because I got picked off anyway even with out taking anymore of a lead then what I start with. Also it is so unfair on the pick off move to 2nd because I can not see the 2nd baseman at all and he keeps being sneaky to where no matter what I get picked off.
Other then those moments not much really frustrates me till I play the Mariners and Ichiro who I have nicknamed the thief because he has robbed over 20 home runs from me and always when it would really help my team out or when from the wall he throws me out at 2nd or 3rd. I have learned though if you hit it where he can get to it stay on 1st and don't attempt it.Comment

So it's not just me. That mofo has robbed 3 from me in my season. He robbed HR's from me in back to back innings one game.Comment

Re: I'm THIS close to snapping this disc in two
I only do RTTS but we play the mariners a lot. Ichiro has robbed me three times in back to back to back at bats. 2 in one game and the 3rd at my first in another. Out of the 300 or so home runs that my out fielder has only 2 have come from the Mariners due to Ichiro robbing me blind. I do love the realism this game has though as I have seen him recently do it in real life the same as he does to me. At least it is not exaggerated and is something he can and will do often enough for me to not get to mad about it in the game. I have to say I do know how it feels to be one of those guys though and how they must hate him. On another note on my franchise I got him really cheap so he doesn't rob any of my hitters.Comment

Re: I'm THIS close to snapping this disc in two
The baserunning is quite intuitive to me and I got the hang of it quickly.
The double play glitch, that is another animal altogether. I can't tell you how many times the CPU will hit into an easy DP only to have the shortstop stand there with his thumb up his butt. Definitely needs to be addressed.Comment

..ebb and flow, boys... ebb and flow.
I've been pitching lights out lately, but it's summer out there so I can't rake. amazing how this game takes you through the same ups and downs as a major league season.Comment

It's weird that I've heard so much about this glitch, yet I've never seen it. And I'm sure I've played close to 200 games by now.The baserunning is quite intuitive to me and I got the hang of it quickly.

Re: I'm THIS close to snapping this disc in two
Just follow the runner icon on the screen. Where ever the runner is move the left stick in relation to where he is on the diamond and the icon will start to blink to indicate you have control of him to give commands.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

If we want to call "a very small window of time to turn it properly" a glitch, otherwise it really is not.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

so I haven't been following, did he ever snap the disc in two?

You have to preload the throws, but they can't be preloaded too early and they can't be preloaded too late.. I never had what you said happen to me. My double plays are nice. The baserunning is quite intuitive to me and I got the hang of it quickly.

Ah, ok.
Like I said, I have yet to have it happen to me, so I wouldn't know. I guess I'm just always quick to pre-load my throws. Now, more than everComment
