Or you could download a trial of Photoshop or obtain a "free" version by other methods.

So ADA im havin rouble with the layers thing on a software called gimp, so im making it easier on myself im recreating the cover like you did

I have Photoshop now but when i cut the player out and put it on the cover the player is way to small how do i resize the player its a high resolution picture also.

Hold shift when you scale the player, in your cover the proportions are off.
