As soon as you are moving the stick the system is calculating throw strength and accuracy.
The throw strength meter grows underneath the player with 3 rings (Green, Yellow, Red) Green indicating a softest throw and red indicating a strongest throw. Surrounding the strength meter will be the accuracy meter: green means perfect, yellow is iffy and red usually means you are going to get off a bad throw and commit an error.

So if you wanted wanted to get off an easy throw you would lightly point the right stick toward the desired base, watch the strength meter swell to the desired spot and let go. The accuracy based on your input will show up immediately after the strength meter fills.
But this is how you can throw at different speeds, but what about how quickly you release the ball? For example if you field a ball cleanly and have all the time in the world versus if you pick the ball up deep in the hole and need to release it quickly? Is it just how quickly you move the analog stick and release it?

No, the animations are going to dictate the tone of how fast they get throws off. Preloading your throw will yield the fastest and cleanest throwing animations. Obviously the strength input with the analog meter create the sense of urgency as well or lack of.

Ok so you are saying I CAN pitch online from behind the pitcher view?? That would be pretty sweet...

I've read through most of the Q&A and I have just 1 question, will you be able to choose "timing only hitting" and play on Hall of Fame or Legend difficulty? TIA!

Yes you will be able to! Your timing window for contact will be shorter on those levels.

Nemesis have you ever played the old NCAA series? Are you able to answer my comment about what the differences/similarities are between the Show's analog hitting/fielding and the NCAA game?

I have, the overall concept for hitting is similar. You pull back to start your stride and push up to swing. During the push up the alignment towards the pitch is the same as you guide the right stick towards the inner, middle and outer third of the plate. The Show uses face buttons for swing types. NCAA used a shoulder button for a power swing that had to be held for the duration of the swing. They also had a flat footed swing by just pushing up from neutral on the right stick. With that said I feel the calculations behind the system in the Show are tighter and your aiming means more for the PCI to be in the correct location for quality contact. You also have to remember we are comparing MLB and college so the results are different as they should be.

Questions for Knight about the online leagues:

How is the stat tracking? If I wanted to do a fictional or historical league using a single player online league, would I be missing out on some of the stats the offline game provides?

Also, is the online league one-year-and-done, or does it continue on? I know it's not a franchise, but I just wondered if it had a draft ala the offline Season mode.

                      Thanks!

That's great, I loved the NCAA game and found both the fielding and the hitting in it very rewarding.

You talked about the hitting, but NCAA also had analog fielding/throwing in the field, how does that compare with the Show's game?

has playing in the shadows been lightened up? in 10 it was way to dark and once the batter was covered it looked real murky. It took away from the experience of the game. it real life its never that dark in shadows

has the AI been fixed in center field of PNC park? Balls that are hit to the 410 mark, the CF AI gets stuck on the wall that is angled out, LF just stands and watches and results in Inside the park homeruns

Question that was in the other thread, but it quickly got buried.

Can you use Analog Pitching with no visible meter? Just using the windup and "feel" of your pitcher's motion.

                                Thanks,
