Also, how did the diving and sliding stops and catches look? There was something off about the outfielders sliding and catching everything last yryear. Also how about diving stops on the infield? I would have liked to seen more ground balls smothered rather than fielded cleanly. And what were you thoughts about double play animations? I really didn't like all the bare handed turns in 10... thank you for any answers you have. Can't wait to read your write up on gameplay as a whole.
Analog throwing is extremely challenging! As a matter of fact I tried legend throwing and made 8 errors in two innings, lol. On that level you basically have a 1 or 2 degree variance from a perfect throw to a not so perfect throw. If anyone says they can find a challenging level with throwing they are full of it. Momentum is a strong factor with fielding this year as you cannot correct yourself on the dime now like last year. If you momentum is taking you away from the play it will be reflective in your throw.

Ratings are going to be a big factor on what your players can and can't do. Not all players will have the same portfolio of animations so to speak available to them based on their rating. Diving catches are still very challenging in the outfield but when you do pull them off they are very nice. The cpu will not initiate dives for you like last year so that has been toned done. Did not see the CPU diving a lot either. As far as diving catches in the infield some were deflected, missed or caught but did not see any smothered.

Did not see too many barehanded turns when we played but there were some newer turns that I had not seen before.

Have they gotten rid of the Ps2 practice swings? Never liked when the practice swing never matched the stance(s)...It would take you out of rhythm and look kill the immersion as they 'snapped' back into their stance.

I know you guys mentioned the changes made to the OF, but I'm curious if the SCEA team has addressed the infield, specifically 3B, which has been a sore spot for a couple of years? I'm hopeful that they have the 3B positioned more towards the line and we won't see that animation of the ball going underneath the glove.

How are the plays at the plate, if you guys saw any? I felt like in 10 that the catchers were always a little slow in reacting to the baserunner and would wind up putting the tag down late or putting their glove in the wrong spot to get the runner out.

This has been cleaned up. If momentum brings you to the wall they will brace themselves but it is much quicker. The system does not make you go up against the wall so to speak if it really is not warranted.

I have sort of been on the fence about buying this game since hearing that franchise was remaining the same. But hearing all of this about the fielding, I am sold once again. SCEA should give you a commission on at least one purchase heh.

Can someone clarify what PREGAME exactly is for SOTS ??

I'm under the impression that it's the music that plays when they first go on the air and show the "coming up next" graphic and starting lineups while others say it the music that plays when they show the starting pitcher warming up later ??

This has been addressed. The 3B will either get to it, knock it down and sometimes not get it but the balance was good imo.

To me this area of the game still needs improvement. The whole catcher runner interaction feels too far removed from the rest of the game imo.

                              cards....
Trust me...you don't get more franchise oriented than myself....and while there were no real specific franchise additions(really meaning GM/front office things...like NRI's....the draft and such)....there are quite a few things that will indirectly effect change to franchise in a pretty big way.
Right off the top....Brian has changed the MR logic and therefor the bullpen logic. The new fielding ratings will effect franchise in regards to personnel decisions....
They are working on the trade logic and the training in regards to how it effects team decisions with re-signing players and signing FA's...so there is some under the hood stuff being looked at.(I just want it noted that it is crunch time and Kolbe, Jeff and crew are breaking this down as we speak....and may or may not be able to effect the changes in release. I just don't want guys to think it IS changed.....and a definite to be in. This is a complex issue and Kolbe and Jeff are aware and will do what they can)...

But just from playing a bit at the event...you can see that franchise has changed in peripheral ways that make a pretty big difference.

To be honest that is a timing issue with the user. Your trying to dive too close to the ball. I know you do not see it in the MLB but I am not sure it is that something could be or should be done on SCEA's end. Just more practice on your end I would think.
