Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
He might have slightly better speed but reyes is still a wayyyyyyy better base stealer. BTW Jose reyes was way better at this age....I'm high for putting a guy with one of the better speed, base running abilities, defense, and plate discipline? I'm sorry, but he is exactly what Jose Reyes was at his age. What's the difference between him and Reyes? Jose obviously has better power, slightly better speed, less plate discipline and less durability.
And for the record, I'm a San Diego Padre fan.
Andrus(age 21-22) season
.265
32 steals with 15 caught stolen (horrible for a young speedster)
0 homeruns (in texas ballpark)
3 triples
15 doubles
88 runs
Reyes(age 21-22) season
.273
60 steals with 15 caught stolen (led the league in steals)
7 homeruns (in a much bigger shea)
24 doubles
17 triples (led the league)
99 runs.
As you see you were wrong about the same skill level at same age. Reyes was WAY better. Way better in stolen bases, homeruns, hitting doubles and triples and better in runs, slightly better in average.
So yeah...that ends that debate.Comment

Ramone is actually removing the Braves franchise from the game right now....and as a further stick it up your *** to Braves fans....in 2014 in the game, Greg Maddux gets inducted into the H.O.F. wearing a Cubs cap.

But where will Ramone put his character at? He always plays catcher for Atlanta?

Oh crap, an inconsistent argument on my part. Reyes definitely still has the better speed. I think I mentioned that a couple of pages ago but I mixed it up during the flurry of responses. He might have slightly better speed but reyes is still a wayyyyyyy better base stealer. So maybe I overstated Andrus at his current level. However, the present is different, so I will go ahead and lay this out so you can see whether present numbers dictate whether I drop Andrus and raise Reyes up (Also, after viewing last year's top 5 for SS, it makes no sense to me for Reyes to drop nearly a full letter grade, so I'm already bumping him up to an A- in overall)
Contact: Reyes (.282/.279/.297) over Andrus (.265/.267) Average
Power: Reyes (11/2/19 HR) over Andrus (0/6) HR
CNT and PWR: Reyes (103/101/118) over Andrus (75/82) OPS+
Clutch: Irrelevant for leadoff hitters
Vision: Reyes (63/19/82) over Andrus (96/77) K
Discipline: Andrus (64/40) over Reyes (31/18/66) BB
Speed: Reyes slightly over Andrus, but both in the A range
Baserunning Ability: Reyes (30/10; 11/2; 56/15) slightly over Andrus (32/15; 33/6) SB/CS
Baserunning Aggressiveness: Andrus (47/39) tied with Reyes (40/13/71) Stolen Base Attempts
Durability: Andrus (148/145) over Reyes (133/36/159) Games Playd
Defense:
Reyes gets nod. Both are terrific, but Reyes is more seasoned and was great to begin with. Okay, that's not statistical evidence like UZR or FLD%, but defense in this game is more so from the player's abilities rather than simply replicating the numbers seen under such categories, or we'd have some whacked out ratings year-to-year.
So now that I've done my own research and put it out for you to see, this is why I'm changing my tune. Not because of (he has X and X better than him), but solid all-around evidence.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 01-20-2011, 12:37 AM.Comment

The ironic thing is I think andrus is a beter defender. Reyes has mental lapses way too often.Oh crap, an inconsistent argument on my part. Reyes definitely still has the better speed. I think I mentioned that a couple of pages ago but I mixed it up during the flurry of responses.

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
Hard to tell where both players will fall on defense ratings-wise since no one knows what the new defensive ratings exactly are.
In any case, I'll be re-evaluating my list in my spare time.Comment
