Knight's right and has thought it through of course. But I would suggest that a bit more sensitivity to performance is appropriate - in one specific way.
What I see suggested in this thread is that a bang-up year in the minors should boost attributes. Intuitive, but as Knight explained, based on the way progression is currently programmed, I think it would make more sense for success to influence <i>potential rating</i> rather than stats. That way, potential can still be what drives attribute progression (no major change needed, IOW) - but performance can also be meaningful.
So in short, players would fluctuate more than they currently do between D -C - B - A ratings year to year. Which is realistic. The Top 100 Prospects Lists are volatile year over year.
And as Knight said, there really needs to be a higher failrate for A Potenial players. They shouldn't be sure things.
