Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

So Far I'm loving the demo. I love the analog controls even still can't hit worth a lick, as for pitching it took me at least two games to get the hang of it. The graphics have been vastly improved, while I was playing the lighting was actually hurting my eyes but thats a good thing.

I'm loving the player models, The Panda is finally the panda. One thing I noticed is that they really improved throwing, you can actually tell the difference in throwing when using Hamilton compared to Borbon, the ball moves much faster compared to throwing with Borbon. Also I don't remember this being a option in previous games but blown calls at bases is a option this year.

To those who feel MLB 11 is the same as MLB 10 you have to remember most of the improvements that have been done to the game have been under the hood improvements. I see where some of guys are coming from but I wouldn't be too underwhelmed about this years version because I believe the under the hood improvements makes this game a first day buy for me.

Yes but you have to do it in-game. Pause it and go to team select.

Read the 1st two pages and didn't see what I'm about to say mentioned:

Love the game but two errors were easy to spot. The 1st was the commentary....one of my guys batting was 0-1 and the commentary stated how he was 0-2. Another is throughout the game (3-4x a game), I would hear a click/beep/chirp noise and I have no idea why it's coming on.

edit: I'm aware it's a demo...just wondering if it's something I should expect to happen frequently in retail version.

Looks like I'm about to break a yearly tradition and pass on The Show this season.

The Show is a victim of its own success. Once the game reaches a certain point, it's hard to continue to make big improvements years after year.

I played the demo (don't like the new controls) and it feels and looks like almost the same game I bought last year. I'm not a hardcore gamer so I don't check every preview/interview but I took a look at the fact sheet, and I have no interest in the majority of the new features.

            I was the Giants and Lincecum's final line was: 21 IP, 13 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, and 23 K's!! Oh yeah and he only had to throw 282 pitches....lol

I love the analog pitching but so far I'm not overly thrilled with either the analog hitting or fielding but I'm gonna keep working on it. I only managed 11 hits with 1 double and 1 home run so I suck pretty bad at it right now but it does feel rewarding when you do get a hit, especially a home run.

As you have stated though, if this demo is intended to mainly give us a taste of the analog controls then it sure seems like a success to me!
I think they should try what EA does with the madden demo.
they put little pop ups explaining what will be in the main game and if something isnt there, they say dont worry its in the full game lol

also, thanks RR for the clarification.

Seriously. Its a demo and you have zero management control. So if you go 21 innings and are controlling one of the teams you won't be able to use your bullpen, pinch hit or anything. Its not a big deal its just the demo. Not the retail.

The ticker is a franchise mode only feature, I'm not even sure if show track was in the game at the time we made the demo.

if the demo is set for guys not to fatigue, its hard to get a read on how something like fatigue works in the game.

Well I thought it was pretty crazy that I went 12 innings till I saw the guy who went 21 lol. Pretty awesome though, CJ Wilson ended up getting the game winning RBI for me. Loving the new controls though. Hitting is interesting to get the timing down right. I like how there's different load ups for players and not just a single generic one for everybody. Pretty fun, can't wait for release.

I really like how Sony San Diego went back and re-did the load animations for almost every hitter. The Hamilton stance and load is so realistic and life-like.

Pitching is a lot more challenging. One thing I disliked about 2K's pitching was that it was far too easy. After you get used to it, you can throw shutouts every other game.

The location based pitching meter is a lot more challenging, you actually have to push the stick to the spot or else your pitch will miss - there's very little margin for error. For the first time in a baseball game, I had nearly 40% of my pitches go as balls - that's pretty realistic.

Overall, I liked the demo. It'll take getting used to (especially fielding), but the stick controls are pretty solid.

I actually enjoy the commentating in the game, Eric Karros is such a upgrade over Rex Hudler but unfortunately sometimes I heard Karros saying some of Hudler's lines. I do not want to be reminded of Hudler.
