Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I found an ERROR on the demo and wanted to bring it to attention....
- broadcast view (while pitching) "on the backstop" RIGHT side I see this: SFGIGANTS.COM
***obviously it's a misspelling!
The left side is right - shouldn't it be SFGIANTS, not SFGIGANTS?
{I just wanted to bring it to the attention of the DEVS - they may already know this OR this may ONLY be a mistake in the demo ONLY...just wanted to give them a heads up.}
That's all!Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Just played two games. Took me about a game to start to get the analog pitching. I kinda like not having to use the L Stick at all and can place pitches with just the R stick but I play three games a night (I work nights and there ain't much to do at 3am!) so to use the stick for 600 pitches... we'll see.
Hitting is... well, hitting. Took me seven innings to get a hit. Whoever said Catcher 5 view is the **** is completely right. Takes some getting used to since it's real new but it's really **** for watching pitches break. Swung a few times at some high ones that look like normal pitches in a regular view.
Throwing with the analog takes some getting used to as well. You can't seem to pre-load a throw like you can with the button but that quick toss for a DP from second to short seems to go red pretty often.
Love the presentation as it looks pretty dreamy but the backdrop fans on the broadcast view is 480 in a 720 world. How does something like that get put into a demo that's as awaited as this?? The analysis window will look rather familiar to those of us with OOTP: the white and color view poppped right out at me as OOTP 11 white skin.
Pitcher warmup is a cool addition. We'll see about the analog stuff, though. I'm not sure I'm going to leave 09 yet, though. I'll rent it from BBuster for a weekend and see what I think of it then.Comment

I skipped MLB 10 and just continued to play 09. I really like the feel of this demo. And I'd like to thank the Dev's for leaving the option to play with Classic controls in the game. I'm an old dog and I don't learn new tricks, so I like the classic control scheme.
A couple things that have impressed me, fielders making diving catches and then doing a barrel roll. The crowd reaction is great. I had two outs on the opposing team, they had a guy on 3rd, the batter made contact, the crowd went Ooooooo, my shortstop made a play on the ball, I threw it home, the catcher made the tag for the 3rd out and the crowd erupted , it was excellent.Comment

I love reading a lot of the comments where guys are saying that they hate/gonna pass on the game because of the new controls. That the new controls are to hard and they can't hit or they make to many errors when throwing haha, thats the whole point. You gotta practice, your not gonna pick this game up and win 10-0 the moment you play..PSN: OverPar8Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Hi, I am SO impressed with even this early build/demo, we cannot wait for the 8th. I am taking all glitch comments with a grain of salt until the disk is in the machine.
Downloaded it last night, tried one inning, but I am Bad with the sticks so I am waiting until tonight when my son takes over so I can enjoy him playing (if he lets me!). He plays HS ball (pitcher) so I'm really, Really, REALLY glad this game is more like the real thing as far as
- TIMING in the box
- quick reactions/player responsibility
- the whole pitching thing (BALKS!, accuracy, individual nuances, and so on)
I love the idea of not just pointing to a spot and the ball goes there, it reminded me of a shape sorter box for toddlers. The question thread is great, I'll try to point him to it before he starts up. You expert guys are Great with your quick answers!
I'll try to post some of his reactions later tonight.

Playing my second game now and wow, Catcher 5 is fantastic. To all of you that suggested it - thank you!
And a very funny thing just happened.
I completely messed up a curveball and actually bounced it off the grass. The funny part? The batter swung and fouled it off.
Cricket '11 The Show!
I'm loving the game, btw. Just thought it was funny.Comment

the whole idea of skipping the game if you don't like the new controls makes absolutely no sense. You have the option of using the new or old way.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
For everyone saying you don't have time to react to a pitch, remember that you need to start your pull back at the pitchers release point. If you're doing this, then you have exactly the same amount of time to react as you did before...
Also don't forget that there will be a pitch speed slider in the full version if you still can't get the hang of thatComment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
First few attempts with the hitting, my my, that will take some practice, couldnt hit a thing with analog, switched back to good old timing (HOF) and bingo, couple of hits and a run instantly, but i will go back to giving analog a go with Catcher 5 for hitting as others have suggested.
Analog pitching, hmmm, not sure on it, i like my meter...but again will give it more of a chance, thats the point of the demo.
Overall looks wise its as good as ever, looking forward to digging deeperComment

I just played my first game and saw something i dont think ive ever seen before...i was pitching and josh hamilton ripped a line drive right off lincecum's face and he went flat on his back and was rolling around on the mound. unfortunately, injuries are turned off so i was right back up for the next batter, but it was so cool to see that happen. it makes me wonder what the outcome wouldve been had injuries been on. talk about a game and a season changing incidentComment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I think the addition of Karros is great. We NEVER heard Matt have a conversation with Hud or even Dave about a teams performance in the previous year, or a players performance.
I just hope they have that sort of connection in franchise. That would be great to hear them talk about a team's performance, lets say, being in the Wild Card hunt in early September.
I love the analog controls for pitching. It really feels like a whole new game with the addition of it. I really feel like I'm used to it after 2 games, but I will keep on practicing. But I will most likely use the Classic controls for batting. Even when I had 2k7, and 2k8 on XBOX, I never found myself using the Swing Stick. Maybe its just me, but I do like the single button batting better.Comment
