Hopefully this cam would give a good view of those low breaking pitches. If I may ask, as the hitter, how does the ball look coming in with this view?
Aside from it being beautiful looking, you might have trouble sensing speed (which is a good thing differentiating fastballs from changeups, a common toughy) and my view on low pitches has been a bit distorted. Not that it's actually tough to determine a ball from a strike, but I feel the strike zone is a bit lower than it used to be. That might not actually be the camera angle though, that might just be the way that it is.

Curveballs are an easy read though, and pitches off the plate can be picked up nearly upon release at times. You might be iffy though with these two pitchers, wondering if their ball will have the right movement to backdoor you with location. It's really nice, but I would prefer tweaking the optical zoom a bit more, like you said.

Hey Blzer you wouldn't be working on a MVP style camera would you?

I'm in line for SDSU vs. BYU tickets, have been for over 24 hours now and have over 12 hours to go haha. I might be able to do it by Friday evening, but it's all about whether they have the proper DOF for that style camera.

Are you referring to the offset one introduced in 2003 or the reinvented ones by 2005?

The reinvented one from 05. Don't know what it was about the angle and the zoom but it just came natural to pick up on the ball and the speed of the pitch. And I hope your rooting for SDSU in that battle i have been impressed with there season so far.

i think there was more to it than just the camera angle

the pitch break was exaggerated compared to MLB: The Show, pitches in general came in slower, but there was an even greater differentiation between a 98 mph fastball and an 82 mph changeup (in The Show would be like an 85 mph fastball, 60 mph change), plus there was HITTERS EYE

Yeah, MLB 2K7/2K8 had a nearly identical camera, though I preferred 2K8's only slightly. And thanks, I hope it's worth it!

Yea your right I forgot about the whole hitters eye feature. I just need to find a camera angle that can help with this analog system I can hit the ball but I strike out a ton. I had one game with 3 HRs but it was the only 3 hits I had the whole game (and I was the giants and it's no secret there not a very powerful team)

Using a very similar camera to the one you posted I've actually found it easier to determine pitch speed when compared to the catcher cam directly behind home plate.

Perhaps, but I've never defaulted to that camera. I've always used Offset, which for me is much easier determining pitch speeds.

Very strange occurrence - Lincecum's pitch is ridiculously low, yet it is swung at on the rebound.
Vlad did this IRL against Chris Tillman of the Orioles a few seasons ago. Got a base hit off of it, actually.
