Russell, have there been tweaks in the Analog Controls between the Demo and the Retail game? I know the Demo is from an earlier production and was wondering if there will be a difference between the two.

Nem, what happened to them cutting down on the OF's being morphed into animation while catching flyballs? I noticed the IF's don't do it as much, but the OF seems untouched.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Q&A, discussion thread
I wouldn't say it's harder. It's about the same but, and here's the key, if you don't get your PCI lined up with the ball you'll wiff. Can someone comment on the zone hitting in the game.
How hard is it compared to last years version of zone and does it gives comparable hit quality etc. as the analog hitting system does.
I'm an old dog as well
and not sure if i'll be able to master this new fangled stick business but i will give it a try once i have the game!
So far it's been spectacular. I've been waiting soo long for this type of hitting in the show. I'm not going to be using analog hitting.
I wouldn't worry either about striking out more than you may have last year, as was my fear, but my K's seem about the same as 2010.
Alot of that is do to the fact that we have better camera angles now and I won't be swinging blindly at pitches down or up like last year so I won't K as much on bad pitches, but K's will be made up by the new zone hitting PCI. I hope that makes sense.
I'm pretty sure I've read a few times that they are not tied to rosters butI'm not sure where to post this question, it wasn't in the facts thread and isn't available in the demo...
Are the "sounds of the show" tied to rosters this year? I know there was a poll made that showed overwhelmingly the want to have them not connected but I can't seem to find the answer. I apologize for asking here if it was the wrong place.
I can't find those replies as they're quite buried. It might be in the facts/FAQ stickied on the first page of the Show forums.
Edit: It's not I just checked but I'm still pretty sure they're not tied to rosters this year.Last edited by Chef Matt; 02-28-2011, 09:55 AM.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Q&A, discussion thread
It was reduced but as I stated in my fielding writeup it still will not be enough for some. There was a lot of talk about this at CD but SCEA feels strongly about bridge animations to the ball. There are quick and long catch animations in the game based on where you are in the field. Obviously the quick catch animations allow more user control closer to ball but this animation is not warranted for every catch scenario.
They don't want a situation where you can run full steam to the ball and the fielder put up their glove at the very last second. I still think middle ground can be achieved here allowing user control closer to the catch region and flowing catch animations.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Q&A, discussion thread
Well if you mean by total games, I think it may be a matter of actually tracking the statistics manually. I could be wrong though.
But I know, for single game comparisons, if you push select during an AB you can see a collective view of statistics throughout the game. Thanks for the info Chefdad. I like what you say about needing to have the pci lined up correctly as that was a very weak part of last years zone hitting.
I don't have the demo but how would you say the demo is more forgiving than the retail game, in what way exactly?Comment

Re: Can someone explain how to correctly preload outfield throws with classic fieldin
It depends on the fielder and how good he is the better the gloove the bigger the window for branching animations. The worse he gets the less time you have to que up the better animations. When pre-loading your throws from the outfield is there a certain time or distance from the ball you have to be before you hit the button to get the smooth branching running throw animation ??
I'm not sure if I'm doing it too early or to late but everytime I charge a ball and throw my outfielder goes into this awkward slam on the brakes animation and throws flat footed which never allows me to make an accurate or strong throw to homeplate
Can someone please explain to me what I'm doing wrong ?
As a rule of thumb you want to pre-load your throw for analog and buttons asap.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Q&A, discussion thread
I don't know if anyone has commented on this yet, but there seems to be a huge glitch in batting. At least 10 times (if not more) in a single 4 inning game, the ball went directly through the bat for either a strike out or become some ridiculous ground ball that defies physics. I would watch the replay in slow motion just to see the ball go through the bat. I hope this is just a glitch in the demo and not going to be in the real game. Will this be fixed?Comment
