Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Q&A, discussion thread

Okay, here's the (paralysis by ) analysis screen I was talking about upthread. It's not one at-bat - it's every swing from the Rangers through the first 2 innings:

Now I see a few X's on outs as well as a number 0, so I'm even more confused than before on those. Somewhat less confusing is what the number scale means, thanks to that lone green dotted 7 - a 400+ foot home run to left. So....high numbers = good for the batter, right?

      Thanks!

This leaves me with one more question.

My friend threw me a low pitch, I swung over it and the PCI as in the upper half of the zone while the pitch was in the lower. Seeing as I can't control the PCI, is this caused by how I swung using the analog stick or just the game?

Question might have gotten overlooked: If a player who has a high leg kick for a stride like Buster Posey, do we need to time the leg kick by starting the stride early, or is the timing the same no matter what?

Yeah, I could be wrong, but from the handful of games I've played, it seems like the PCI will be way off like that when the timing is really off.

You do control the PCI. You completely control the timing of your stride and timing on the contact and where you swing left, right and center. High and low is dynamically calculated on the batters attributes and your timing along with the direction of your swing.

Based on the player's ratings, the pitch type, location and your timing the system will determine your up and down in the zone. You could have been very early on that pitch, maybe off speed?

You have to experiment as each hitter's swing is a little different. You will find with some batters who have more involved swings that you have to start the process earlier.

Ok. So if I understand this correctly, we still control the PCI with the Analog swing, yes?

The left stick is placing the bat up, down, left or right while the right Analog is controlling the timing aspect of the swing?

The left stick is not used at all with analog hitting.

Analog batting is R-Stick only you pre-load your swing type beforehand. Up and down is a dynamic calculation based on the factors listed above.

Thank you guys. Analog hitting is everything I want it to be.

Oh. Duh. I forgot I read that in Nems impressions.

Thanks, that makes more sense now.
