    Waiti, wait, wait wait...!!!!!

    I take that back...

If I can hit homers in the demo using normal swing, then ofcourse you can hit them using normal swing on Rookie.

    (Smacks head)

    What was I thinking??? LOL!

I'm planning in making a serious effort with testing out Analog hitting for 11'.

I'd say, 30 games or so (on AS, for now), while tracking my hitting stats.

That said, if they look really out of whack...based on MLB averages, than I will find no shame in switching over to Timing Only.

For me, it's all about the numbers.

[quote=HawkeyMediaPlus;2042146741]Some things to keep in mind

          1. push analog stick out to swing at outside pitches, push analog stick in for inside pitches, and keep it middle for pitches in the middle of the plate

          /quote]

did you mean the left analog to aim the bat, or do you mean the right analog. so if it's the right, would i pull back and aim at about 10 o' clock to hit an inside pitch with a righty, and 2 o' clock for an outside pitch?

Well, things are going downhill. Fast.

After some early success, I am right back where I started. I can't seem to get into a hitter's count to save my life. First pitch is a good one to hit. Second pitch is on the black. Third pitch I take or foul off. Fourth pitch...strikeout or hit for an out. Rinse, repeat.

One of my frustrations is my inability to wait for a pitch (or never getting a pitch) in "my zone." Say I'm looking a bit down and a bit away and move my PCI a touch in that direction. The pitcher throws it high and inside. And for whatever reason, I swing? I tell myself over and over again NOT to do this. But it happens regardless.

I wake up at 4 AM each morning to get a game in before the rest of the family awakes. I am up at 3 AM on the weekends to try and get in a doubleheader or two. Nothing like 3 straight strikeouts, on 9 pitches, at 4:13 AM. I woke up, early, to do that?

I would be willing to sacrifice a child, or two, in order to learn how to hit in this game...

Hitting kind of clicked for me last night while doing a certain technique. Like the OP, I kept switching teams to remain on the offensive side the entire game. When I was at bat, even on pitches that I was not swinging at I would still initiate the stride. After the pitch you can click L3 for the swing analysis and even though you did not swing it still grades your timing of your stride. After a couple innings you will start noticing when your stride is early or late and you can continue to adjust. On my second game, I was almost sub-consiously starting my stride by looking at the pitchers form and release point and I'd say 75% of the time I would get a good grade. I was definitely starting my stride wayyyy early. If youre having trouble with your stride, you should go through the game timing your stride and then checking the swing analysis.

here is what i did. Played a little bit using classic square and x batting controls. Noticing each batter and when i swung their leg kicks and loading up of the swing in relation to the pitch. After a couple times through the lineup i switched to analog and tried to time it when they did.

I did some timing only last night too for this very reason.

The game automatically does the stride for you, and it really helped me figure out when to start it myself back on analog. I actually drew 3 BB in the first two innings after switching back.

Take Hamilton for example. In timing only, he strides WAY earlier than I had previously expected. On the other hand, a guy like Derosa or Andrews was JUST a millisecond later than I was previously doing.

If any of you have some time to kill, I'd definitely suggest switching over to timing for a few innings. It really helps with wrapping your head around the analog system a little bit better...in my opinion, anyway.

So I picked up on something new tonight. You gotta realize that sometimes a pitcher is just gonna be on. I was playing tonight, hitting with both teams and as the Giants I was hitting everything in sight but then as the Rangers I couldn't touch Lincecum. Finished that game, started again and had the exact opposite happen. This leads me to believe that there's just gonna be some games when the CPU pitcher is on his game and you're just gonna have to grind out what you can. This just reinforces that you have to stay patient and not get frustrated.

hi, my name is nystyle....and I am ashamed to say it, but yes....I had to lower the pitch speed slider a notch!

not knocking the cover off the ball, but pitch speed down one and batting up to veteran and I am having fun lol. My patience was good as I was walking 3-4 times a game (in a 4 inning game) but my hitting was just awful!

Been working on my hitting thanks to this thread, and just drilled the pitcher in the forehead with a line drive. The stud was helped up by the catcher and finished the game.

Those are hitter counts, and in those counts more often than not you are getting a fastball. A lot of times the pitcher is throwing a fastball that will catch a large part of the plate in that situation. It doesn't make sense to take. If it's close, yeah you would take it. But if they are just going to lay one in there...
I think in the early innings you take those pitches. The idea is to get the starting pitcher to throw as many pitches as possible and wear him out for later innings. That's what I typically did anyway. I'd start off really slow, maybe only a couple hits through the first 4 innings or so, but in the middle innings it set me up for the big inning if I had the pitcher tired it's easier to rattle their confidence.

Played a couple of games yesterday using pure analog hitting..

After reading VOMs hitting strategies I changed mine completely and it helped..

In my fist game I changed to offense every half inning and the Giants won 4-2.

In my second game I played as the Rangers (offense and defense) and I won 6-3 (2 of my runs were scored thanks to an error by sandoval)

I hit 2 Homeruns (Kinsler and Ross), 2 doubles (Posey and Hamilton) and some sweet singles.

In my first game I saw over 64 pitches from Wilson and 58 from Lincecum.

In the second game I threw 71 pitches and saw something over 60 from Lincecum.

So, changing my hitting strategy and becoming more patient at the plate makes the game even more realistic and more fun!

                              Thank you Visionsofmastery!!

I think the real trick comes when trying to do this consistently. I find that if I take a day off from the game or play something else for awhile I lose a little of what I've gained.
