Re: MLB 11 The Show - Pictures/Videos/Highlights
Felt like sharing my pretty aggravating loss I had last night: COL (me) vs. PIT (CPU).
Let's start with the score of the game:
As you can see, everything was pretty well matched up on the pitching end (I ended up throwing many low pitches by the end of the game to try and induce double plays:
I thought I took snapshots of the box score as well, but I guess I didn't.
Now, anyway, you might be wondering why I have four errors? Well, let me tell you a little story...
Early on in the game, my 2B Mark Ellis gets injured making a diving attempt for a ground ball (which he ultimately whiffs at as it goes through for a base hit), and I have to replace him with Ty Wigginton, as he is the only other infielder that is neither a catcher nor a first baseman. I figured he wasn't quite 2B-capable, so I switched him to third base for Kevin Kouzmanoff. Anyway, Kouz ends up booting two plays in the later stages of the game. One of them didn't actually qualify as an error, because I still got a player out... but I couldn't get the double play, so it was equally as awful.
So, where did the other three errors come from? I think one of them was an overthrow to first, I can't remember but it didn't affect anything. The other two errors, however, were technically (and actually statistically) not errors, but they should have been fielder's choices or base hits. The most unfortunate thing, though, is that it was the game that made two straight errors. There is no way that I can prove myself here, but long story short, there were two times in one inning where I attempted to throw the ball to second to start a double play, and both times Wigginton threw home.

I know what you're thinking: "There goes Blzer again, blaming the game for his own wrongdoings. He must've accidentally flicked the stick down first, even if only slightly, to make sure that he could blame the game unknowingly." The only problem with this is, even if it was true, I have Throw Cancelling switched to On. I actually switched it on in this very game after sending my sliders to authentic, because I was telling him that there are only a few instances where it really affects me, and this particular situation should have only helped me in a positive way. Also, since these were both in the same inning, after chalking up the first time having happened as "human error," the next time I was adamant in doing everything my power to make sure that it wouldn't happen again, especially since both plays were so, so similar.
So, anyway, after two botched double plays and the Kouz error (again, where I got the player out at first), they ended up scoring the three runs in the inning which never should have happened. I won't even try to explain the triple that should have been a double lol, but here is the game log of that particular inning:
Anyway, their first run of the game came from one of those line drives where the landing region doesn't show up, and my outfielder looked completely stupid and baffled. RBI double in that instance.
It was just a frustrating game is all, especially the one inning where I miraculously turned six outs into one, and zero runs into three.Last edited by Blzer; 01-07-2012, 03:32 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Taken back in March before Manny "retired." Manny being Manny
Held up on my check swing on ball 4. For some reason I didn't walk. Can't remember what happened after.Last edited by WarningTrackPower; 01-13-2012, 06:39 PM.Comment
