      Re: *2011 Team Projected Lineups*

Despite all the doubting, I know my Rays are gonna put one heck of a team on the field. And it'll look this!

      1. C John Jaso
      2. LF Johnny Damon
      3. 3B Evan Longoria
      4. DH Manny Ramirez
      5. RF Ben Zobrist/ Matt Joyce
      6. CF B.J. Upton
      7. 1B Dan Johnson/ Casey Kotchman
      8. 2B Sean Rodriguez
      9. SS Reid Brignac

Bench will most likely be comprised of:
      Felipe Lopez
      Casey Kotchman
      Sam Fuld
      Kelly Shoppach

      Starting Rotation:
      1. David Price
      2. James Shields
      3. Jeff Niemann
      4. Wade Davis
      5. Jeremy "Hellboy" Hellickson

The bullpen is really where the holes will be, but as of now the only guarantee spots are:

      Andy Sonnanstine
      Kyle Farnsworth
      J.P. Howell
      Joel Peralta
      Adam Russell
most likely rookie Jake McGee will make the bullpen out of camp.
And the last spot is still being fought over in spring as we speak!

Go RAYS!!!! ( I'll be attending Opening Day for the 14th straight season, I love me some Rays baseball!)

My bad you are correct with Hart batting 2nd. It sounds like tho that opening day is going to go to Greinke or Yovani. Then after that Ron wants to split up the lefties at the tail end which would by default put Marcum in that 4th spot.

It's already been said that Zack is getting the opening nod and most likely the home opener is going to Yo, so that's why I have to rotation set up that way.

Johnny Jaso - a catcher batting leadoff. That's pretty awesome.

              1. Furcal
              2. Kemp
              3. Loney
              4. Either
              5. Uribe
              6. Thames/Gibbons (LF platoon)
              7. Blake
              8. Barajas
              9. Pitcher's Spot

I'm still debating whether or not to switch up Kemp/Either and perhaps Loney/Uribe - I enjoy a L/R/L/R lineup. I hit Kemp in the 2 hole last year and he was a Monster - not that that has anything to do with this year's game!
Yeah sb, I like yours better and actually it will be almost exactly like mine. I was predicting what the opening day lineup would be and not what mine would be. I like speed at the top and lefty-righty when possible. Did you see where Mattingly has already annointed Blake as the two-spot guy. So, I tried to fit the line-up around that.

Yea its pretty unusual, but hes a great contact hitter, and a VERY smart baserunner. He constantly goes 1st to 3rd where most players wouldnt, and he is very good at reading balls in the dirt, allowing him to take 2nd a lot too. I have really never seen a catcher be so smart on the basepaths, especially since ive been a Rays fan. We have always had a hard time finding a catcher.

The last one that I can think of that did it regularly was Jason Kendall. You sure don't see it that often. Takes a younger catcher that still has some knees.

I think Bruce will be leading off come opening day.

And I think Bray replaces Willis as much as I want to see Willis on the team its going to take him a bit more to get his stuff back if he ever does. he got shelled in his first appearance this year.

Yea it's unorthodox, but then again that's just what JoeMa ( Joe Maddon) is all about. He's always making some funky change in the lineup to try and boost the Rays. Jaso hit lead off a lot, especially once Shoppach started striking out about 3 times a game lol.

So it's no surprise that he's already decided to have Jaso leadoff. What's important is Damon hitting for a good average in the 2 hole, cuz we need runners on base for Longo. His numbers definitely suffered slightly having Pena batting around .180 behind him last season. Hopefully Manny can fix that just a bit!

                        Lineup

                        1. LF - Pierre

                        5. CF - Rios*
                        6. RF - Quentin
                        7. C - Pierzynski
                        8. SS - Ramirez
                        9. 3B - Morel

*Note: Only difference would be if the middle of the order looked like this: Rios, Dunn, then Konerko. Guillen keeps changinging his mind as usual.

                        Bench
                        1. C - Castro
                        2. SS - Vizquel
                        3. 3B - Teahen
                        4. Pick one: 2B - Lillibridge, LF - De Aza, or LF - Milledge*

*Note: Both Lillibridge and De Aza are out of MiL options, and there is a way to get both on the team if the Sox carry 11 pitchers, but they are leaning towards carrying 12. In my opinion, I think Milledge is going to beat both of them out, but that's just me.

                        Starting Rotation
                        1. Buehrle
                        2. Jackson
                        3. Danks
                        4. Floyd
                        5. Peavy*

*Note: Peavy probably won't be ready by opening day, so just leave the 5th spot empty. Sox are probably going to use a few spot starters until Peavy is ready.

                        Bullpen
LR - Pick one: Harrell and/or Humber*
                        MR - Pena
                        MR - Ohman
                        MR - Santos
                        SU - Sale
                        SU - Crain
                        CL - Thornton

*Note: Both Harrell and Humber will most likely make the team is Peavy is indeed out. If you keep Peavy in the rotation, I would go with Harrell because he did a decent job last year out of the pen. Both are pretty terrible options.

                            2. SS - Vizquel
                            3. 3B - Teahen
                            4. Pick one: 2B - Lillibridge, LF - De Aza, or LF - Milledge*

*Note: Both Lillibridge and De Aza are out of MiL options, and there is a way to get both on the team if the Sox carry 11 pitchers, but they are leaning towards carrying 12. In my opinion, I think Milledge is going to beat both of them out, but that's just me.

                            Starting Rotation
                            1. Buehrle
                            2. Jackson
                            3. Danks
                            4. Floyd
                            5. Peavy*

*Note: Peavy probably won't be ready by opening day, so just leave the 5th spot empty. Sox are probably going to use a few spot starters until Peavy is ready.

                            Bullpen
LR - Pick one: Harrell and/or Humber*
                            MR - Pena
                            MR - Ohman
                            MR - Santos
                            SU - Sale
                            SU - Crain
                            CL - Thornton

*Note: Both Harrell and Humber will most likely make the team is Peavy is indeed out. If you keep Peavy in the rotation, I would go with Harrell because he did a decent job last year out of the pen. Both are pretty terrible options.
I have a feeling Greg Infante will get the MR spot Pena has and Ozzie will use Pena as a long reliever again. Harrell and Humber will most likely make the team as spot starters, not long relievers.

Says no starting lineup has been announced. Please share your inside sources though.
I am hoping they announce Greinke. I would love to see a Volquez Greinke matchup on opening day. That and a little bit of sunshine will make for one nice day.
