Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread

    Two questions both online related:

1.) Why is there no Co-Op room to go to, to find other players who want to play co-op? It's frustrating trying to go room by room and trying to find others who are trying to find a co-op game. Having a Co-Op room could eliminate that, and make things ALOT easier.

2.) I searched this thread for the question, found it, but it wasn't answered. So I will try again. When playing an online match, I wasn't given the option to use analog hitting. Is analog use not allowed online?

Any help with these questions will be greatly appreciated.

I was browsing the manual to familiarize myself with the new control schemes, and I found this (on page 3; that's a Canadian manual so page number might be different for you):

      Pure Analog Hitting
In Pure Hitting, control your bat throws by flicking the right stick.
What does this mean? At first I got excited that this might mean I can let the bat go faster after hitting to get a step or two toward 1B (like some LH slap hitters do), but I can't figure out how to actually flick the right stick. Not to mention I don't know what "bat throws" mean.

      Does anyone know?

Well since it's a Canadian manual, I am sure that a few words have different meanings. I don't believe you can slap hit like Ichiro. I think it just means that you use the right analog stick for all hitting purposes. Pull back to initiate the step towards the pitcher then push forward to make contact with the pitch.

Yes, Canadian meanings have been causing major headaches for me... like the difference between dinner and supper...

I see I was just delusional. Was hoping something like slap hitting has been secretly implemented... I actually think they should, as without it Ichiro has been nothing more than a very mediocre LH hitter in the Show. Every single LH hitter does full swing and doesn't take advantage of the jump they could get.

            Question about analog pitching:

I pitch on All Star level and get really nice results with just using the right stick. I don't pinpoint the pitch with the left stick I drop the downwards movement just under the target line to pitch low in the strike zone and above for high pitches and direct the upwards motion subtle to the left or right for inside or outside.

Now is this another way to play it or is All Star level just forgiving enough that I can get away with not using the L stick? Will I be punished under the hood for using this method in the higher difficulty modes? Just in case I want to play HOF or Legend mode in the future.

            Thanks!

Why is it when you simulate through the off-season the game is so slow? I think it takes 10 minutes just to get through the off season? Why is that?

Also, can you create a team in MLB the show? If so how?

I know there are all sorts of hitting training modes in the game, but is there any way to do just straight BP?

I want to practice hitting sliders with RHB but it seems you have to choose one of the various games to take batting practice.

Is it possible to simply just take BP where you can select what hand the pitcher is and what type of pitches he will throw?

Anyone else using Analog hitting noticing that their PCI winds up in the left side of the strike zone on a majority of their swings? I feel like I'm pretty smooth with the R-stick and go as straight back-and-forth as I can but then the PCI shows that I was pushing towards the left.

Any tips at all about getting that PCI more square, or is it something I shouldn't worry too much about?

Just curious if the pitch sequence during an at-bat is color-coded to match which type of pitch was thrown. It was like that in 09 and not included in last year's game. A little thing like that helps with strategy. Thanks in advance for help.

It was in '10 as well but something seriously screwed up the colours where they were almost impossible to distinguish.

Unfortunately its still the same in '11.
Why it has changed since '10 I have no idea.

Probably a stupid question but here goes. On the slider screens, at the top is a "P" or "S". What do these represent? Also, if I have my hitting on veteran and pitching on all star, does that mean the computer is on these same settings? Thanks.

You would have to export all the different potential players you want...an A/B/C/D/F pitcher and the same for position players...
Now you would simply go into ROSTER MANAGEMENT on any roster(default it fine)...and go to each player that is real and import a pitcher over a pitcher and position player over position player.
You'll also have to move the FA's onto teams and do the same for them.
The caveat...you'd have to rename the guys you are importing and randomize them as you bring them in(so you don't keep seeing the same guy with the same ratings.
If you got a few guys together to create a bunch of fake players....and swapped/shared them with each other..it would cut the work down considerably and really make it random.
DEFINITELY could(and should! I love fictional leagues!...no pre-conceived notions!) be done.
Start a thread...just don't use and Create-A-Players(Jeter head and classic player morphing)...and I'm sure you'll get guys to upload fake players of all sorts.

what are the chances of the scea guys releasing a fictional player roster update? I would think its alot easier for them to do.
