Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

So I decided to make a new character for the Tampa Bay Rays, a 2nd baseman. Without even playing a game I got sent up to AAA 3 days into the season. I was like o_O...
Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.

Or they could kinda do what 2k used to do with the "My Crib" and let you buy extras with the money you earn. That way you have a little extra incentive to get that BIG contract.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but what's up with the sleeves all day, every day on RTTS? On my edit player page I have sleeves off, but my pitcher rocks them for every game like their going out of style. I can't seem to get rid of them.

On another note... I swear the game hoses me with bad defense in AA ball. I've watched far too many base hits to the outfield turn into doubles and triples because an outfielder can't play it off the hop or field a grounder. The best is when a guy takes the completely wrong line on a fly ball and it drops well behind him. Basically that crap then goes against me and the manager yanks me. Pull the idiot outfielder.

Kind of a product of the way ALL attributes start at rock-bottom levels in this game for rookies. Notice how even those super fielding speedsters have low ratings for things like speed and fielding so you pretty much have a bunch of Jorge Posadas playing in the outfield in AA.

Decide whether you want to take of or not, then go back to the BR view by releasing L2...

This is somewhat of a hidden trick but sure does help BR!!

Okay, I tried this over the weekend (I didn't really want to give up doing the baserunning). I did pretty well with this, but still had trouble from 2nd base.

It looks like the left stick directions are flipped when you are in that view and your runner is at 2nd base or further along. In other words, instead of moving the left stick up ("forward"), you have to move it down. Now, that must make some twisted sense to the devs, in that if you are looking at the screen, you want to run "down". But it certainly isn't consistent.

Caused me to retreat to 2nd on a deep fly that ended up being a 3-run HR, and the runner from first passed me on the base paths (which should been an out). Oh well. At least I can pick up the ball better, and after figuring out the stick swap, I was able to do a bit better on the bases. If there is 2 outs, I stuck to the normal view, but from 1st or 2nd with less than 2 outs, that pressbox cam is definitely better.

            Thanks again for the tip.

Broke my arm in August of my first year while on AAA Buffalo (Mets Farm Team). Made the team out of Spring Training the next year and was assigned a bench role. I got two at-bats, hit two homers (one was a game-tying, 2 out, bottom 9th, 3-run shot in Citi Field), and completed all my goals. They turn around and option me down to AAA Buffalo. Will this ruin my Rookie year or will it not even count?

Here's the definition of rookie status:

A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).

So, it depends on how long you were up there. My first RTTS guy, back in 2008 or whatever version that was, was called up in mid-August as a pinch-runner, and maintained his rookie status because the expanded roster period doesn't count. I was pretty hacked off when I got called up, but then figured out I was under the service day limit, so I was okay. And of course, as mainly a pinch-runner, I didn't come close to the AB limit.

So I'm leading the league in batting average and OBP and I'm not even in top 3 in RoY voting mid-September. And the other RoY guys all are batting in .260 range with + or - 15 home runs and .850 OPSes. I have 6 home runs, same OPS range as them, but with 100 points more in AVG and OBP. Not even top 3. And I had under 50 at bats in my September call-up previous year, so I should be eligible for RoY.

I got a lefty pitcher going in RTTS. I just started him out. A sidearm-throwing knuckleballer. Go figure, lol. I get drafted by the Twins. None of these AA guys can hit the flutter ball. I mean, I'm getting more called strikeouts than swinging K's. I've got a splitter and a sweeping curve to go with it right now. A 91 mph splitter is a great compliment to the 62 mph knuckleball, and the curveball freezes the lefties nicely on the inside corner. Righties will make contact on the curve, so I use the splitter more on them. I took a few "PSN roids" to max out my knuckler and I just made the AA rotation. My guy is the best pitcher in the organization, but I guess I'll have to toil in AA for a while. I want to max out all my pitches first before I add another one. I'm thinking of adding a sinker or a straight change.

How do thse stats work? I just realized that maxing out 4 seam velocity doesnt make you throw 100+ the hard way lol .. what raises overall ability the quickest?

I have a question about fielding. I'll pick up a ball in the infield and already have the corresponding button pressed to what base I want to throw to, yet, my guy freezes for a split second. Any reason why?
Ok, so for some reason I forgot to use my training points. Well, I've started to use them for contact and strength. My batting average overall still isn't great, but in the last "month" I've started batting .236 and seem to start getting a hit every game.

I believe you have to increase velocity with all pitches to get fastball velocity up. As for overall, I think there are 2 methods:

                            1. Raise all /9 ratings-HR/9, BB/9, K/9, H/9
                            2. Increase the ratings in pitching scouting report except Fielding-Stamina, Control, and the rest.

I don't believe so, I've looked for it as well. The only time you even see a transaction occur is when your team is involved. That would be a nice thing to have. In fact, even the ability to just *look* at other teams' rosters would be nice, since that is also lacking.
