Not sure if this belongs in impressions.

    PSP 1001
    OFW 6.20

    Updated to OFW 6.37

Did exhibition Red Sox vs METS at Citi Field. Red Sox hit 3 fly ball triples in the first inning to the warning track area. Not one bit of slowdown during the flight of the ball and subsequent fielding.

    Seems good so far.

I guess, for major improvement to the game will happen next year with the new PSP2. Only one can hope. Please, if you purchased the PSP version of MLB11: The Show, please give us a review.

        Thanks.

Look at the first item, Player Vault. I wonder if we will have roster updates after all. Only one can hope. Upload to a community can't be done in Adhoc, which means there has to be some sort of infrastructure. At least I hope that is what it means. We will see tomorrow. Once someone picks up MLB 11 The Show for PSP, please let us know.

I saw this over at IGN, giving the features for:
        MLB 11: The Show PSP

        • Player Vault -- Now users can upload a single player, outside of a full roster, for others in the The Show community to download, use, and rate.
        • In-Game Bottom Ticker -- Keep tabs on all the action during your Major League season with the addition of The Show's new in-game bottom ticker. You'll now get score updates of games in progress, pitching matchups for games yet to start that day, and final score results highlighting win/loss/save info and notable offensive performances. Additionally, you'll be able to set the ticker to display Friend Updates, so you can keep up with what your friends are up to in The Show.
        • New Presentations -- The Show continues to add to an already expansive presentation base by adding more ways to accurately mirror real-life broadcasts. This year, watch for new pitch-by-pitch sequences that look back at, say, all seven pitches in an at-bat that led to a walk, or a montage of a pitcher's last six strikeouts.
        • Stadium Specific Jumbotrons -- Each stadium's Jumbotron board and out of town scoreboard is displayed exactly as seen in each MLB stadium.
        • Retooled Fielder Ratings -- Improved fielder ratings make defensive substitutions play an even larger role within gameplay. Leave your DH in the outfield and risk having his shaky glove in the outfield! This year you'll see an even larger separation in performance by Gold Glovers versus those players less known for their fielding prowess.
        • Slider Vault -- Gives users the ability to create their perfect game settings by adjusting game sliders.
        • Mascots -- Every team mascot is available, performing signature moves during each game to pump up the crowd and rally the team.
        • Pitch Grips -- MLB 11 The Show details various pitch grips and arm angles that a pitcher has when throwing each pitch. 17 different pitch types including four fastball variations (four-seam, two-seam, cutter, split), six breaking pitches (10-4 curve, 12-6 curve, slider, sinker, slurve, screwball), four change-ups (straight, circle change, palmball, forkball), and three specialty pitches (knuckle, knuckle-curve, and gyro).
        • Roster Vault -- The Roster Vault gives users the ability to create their perfect roster offline by adjusting player attributes, appearance, accessories, etc.
        • Unrivaled Player Creator -- An infinite amount of options for creating players. You can adjust your personal rituals, swings -- even emotions as you create mini-you.
        • MLB Player Motion Captures -- Authentically captured motions from dozens of professional athletes including Joe Mauer, Dustin Pedroia, David Wright, Ryan Howard, and more. This is on top of the hundreds of accurate personalized pitching deliveries and batting stances.
        • Umpire Personalities -- Each umpire will have his own definition of the strike zone, and it's up to the gamer to figure out if the umpire is calling the zone high, low, or giving the corners.

This got me excited, but the game is really the exact same as last years and the year before... I like it though, it's a great game, IMO the best there is for PSP. Started a franchise as the Tigers (nice to have Austin Jackson in the game) and won the first game 14-2 vs. the Yanks. The wind was blowing out at 13 mph, and I hit 4 or 5 homeruns.

How many hits combined? Did you make any slider adjustments?

As noted in other threads, my concern with the PSP version has always been the inflated offense on both sides.

I haven't seen a single new stance yet. They all look exactly the same as last year. I went through the player edit screens too and checked out some stances, and they all look the same.

I also noticed some weirdness with player portraits. For example, Cody Ross is still in his Marlins hat, but new players like Miguel Tejada have a Giants hat. Same with Saltalamacchia on the Braves, but he's in a Rangers hat. Weird.

I still have MLB 10, and played 11 and 10 last night back-to-back just to compare the games. It's virtually the same game, but there do seem to be a few differences. For one, it seems like some of the fielding animations are updated slightly, like on ground balls and throws to first. I also think that it might be my imagination, but I did notice some greater hit variety with 11 that wasn't there with 10. I will have to play a few more games to see, but I noticed more choppers, bleeders and foul popups that had a different feel compared to 10.

Overall I like it, but I'm not disappointed because honestly it is EXACTLY what I expected - a 29.99 roster update with a few minor tweaks. If you know that going in, then you shouldn't be disappointed!

I have a PSP Go so obviously I got mine on PSN and there is no choppiness. The load time is really fast and I can switch from game to game anytime anywhere because it's all in the memory. But it is a pain to load it on over wifi. Took me about an Hour.

Unless something changed from '10 to '11, yes to both. There was a discussion about MOM in the '11 PSP version somewhere recently, and I can't imagine they'd take out the ability to do CPUvsCPU.

Thx bcruise. One more Q, are the fielding camera angle options low, medium and high as well? Do u think its worth buying MLB 11 for PSP or are the changes from MLB 10 minimal?

                        devin,
I just got back from my 15 minute break which took a half hour. Fielding camera is only medium and high. You CAN watch a CPU game. I started a Mets franchise and watched a Phillie-Yankee game in Spring Training. No minor league teams. Manage mode is in season - after a few innings of Yanks Phils, I got Mets-Braves in manage mode. In my limited playing time with 09, it seems very much the same with new rosters and sharper menus. I plan on playing a few innings at lunch and will write more about gameplay afterwards.
                        Thanks.

Ok, fellas, if anyone is interested, I played a few innings at lunchtime and will make a few comments.
I replayed the Mets-A's from last night. This time, I stayed on All Star, but turned down CPU hitting sliders to 2 as well as mine. This time I only gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in the first inning. I still say it was all my fault - I need to learn to pitch better. It was a bit frustrating (but in a good way) and the CPU fouled off tons of pitches. The A's hit some decent shots on me and it felt fair. I did manage to turn a nice double play to get out of the first. I settled down the next couple of innings. My offense needs alot of work, but I did have my offensive sliders turned down three notches to 2 also. I got picked off first with Reyes - too eager to go. Played three innings then saved and will finish later.
So far, I really like the game. It plays really good baseball. And being on PSP I really like to be able to get in a few innings wherever I go. Yeah, I'm late to the party, but I made it.

Update: I made the complaints about the choppy framerate earlier in the thread.

I played the game (UMD) on my PSP 3000 and the framerate was not choppy at all. I then tried it again on my hacked 2000 and got the unbearable glitching, so it is my psp, sorry for the inconvenience. I downloaded a patched version ( since I already own the umd) for my 2000, and that plays fine.

I hacked my older psp for some of the cool features, one of those features is to pirate games (which I don't do). The original psp game comes with a specific firmware update telling you what firmware you must have or update to for the game to be played. The pirated version can be patched, to play on any firmware, so your not forced to upgrade to the latest firmware, which would delete your custom firmware. I bought the UMD, and then downloaded this pirated version assuming it is okay bacause I own the game. So now I can play the UMD on my newer psp and the patched version on my old one because my old one can barely read UMD's.
