Re: I miss you Guess Pitch
hmm its still the same for me, but then again i never played on rookie. but it does make sense because previous years rookie was just timing only, it basically auto aimed for you.
i take it this years game rookie means you have to aim your pci ?Comment

Re: I miss you Guess Pitch
For single player games, I agree completely. I usually only used this feature against friends - but we played upwards of 100 games per season! With our sliders and Rookie setting and guess pitch, it was a blast.
Anyway, the act of guessing a pitch and getting the location isn't realistic, but it does help you out quite a bit - much like a player guessing a pitch in real life is aided in some way. (Just a completely different way). So disappointed in this feature being gone!Comment

Re: I miss you Guess Pitch
Make sure you have "feedback" turned on. There is an option that allows you to use guess pitch with or with out feedback. Basically if you dont get the feedback the advantages of guessing right are more and the disadvantages of guessing wrong are less.
I am not sure how to get there, as I am at work, but where the classic 1/4 is it should be right under it.
I use it and it still does the same thing as last years.
Hope this helped.Comment

Re: I miss you Guess Pitch
Thats always been my point. This is a video game...and If I can get inside a pitchers head and make him pay buy knowing where he is going I want that edge.
I love guess pitch and enjoy the game immensely with it on!!!
I have played ball for most of my life and this is not real life hitting. totally different actually being at the plate vs playing a game on a TV.
For the record I hit on All-Star Guess pitch 1/4.
On this setting I have to option of guessing the pitch or the location or both. If I guess right on location I don't need to move the left stick.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 03-09-2011, 02:32 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: I miss you Guess Pitch
Se7enth Sinn, Here is the correct answer to your question:
Ignore what "dawson" said earlier about having to have feedback on. It can be on or off, doesnt matter in relation to your question. Sorry Dawson.
There is a difference this years than lasts in regards to "the red bullseye" showing the exact location appearing. Last year, as you said on 1/4 rookie it would automatically show if correct pitch was selected. This year, you can select the correct pitch the same way, but in order to see the "red bullseye" location, you have to ALSO select pitch location. you do this, just as you do for selecting the pitch type, by pressing and holding R2 and then using the LEFT STICK to choose up, down, left or right zone of the plate....before the pitcher goes into his windup (just as you do for selecting the pitch type). If you choose the correct zone, then it will show the "red bullseye" where the pitch is going exactly. This will work on either 1/6 or 1/4...and also on every level, not just rookie. additionally, you dont have to choose the correct pitch, only the correct zone (again holding R2 and pushing left stick up, down, left, right before the pitcher begins windup).
So example: You Press and hold R2 and press "x" to select the pitch type for a fastball, then you quickly release and press and hold R2 again and press up on the left stick. Even if the pitcher doesnt throw a fastball, but the pitch is going to be up in the zone it will show the "red bullseye". If you chose both correctly The box will blink red, as in the past, and it will also show the "red bullseye". If you choose the pitch type correctly but not the correct zone, the box will blink red, but it will not show the "red bullseye" where the pitch is going. If you choose the wrong pitch but the correct zone, it will show the "red bullseye" (because you selected the correct zone) but the box will not blink red indicating you did not select the correct pitch.
I hope this helped and was clear. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you.Last edited by mikeyursomny; 03-09-2011, 05:55 PM.Comment

Re: I miss you Guess Pitch
Thanks man, I didn't know you can do Both! The great thing about this years version is if you press down on the D-Pad as a hitter you can call time. So if you don't the 2 selected in time just call time out and try again. This helps a lot thanks!Se7enth Sinn, Here is the correct answer to your question:

Re: I miss you Guess Pitch
Glad we finally have 100% confirmation. REALLY stupid that they took it out. now rookie and vet are basically the same. I usually played with GP on on rookie and had pitch speed all the way up. has anyone had better luck with knocking the pitch speed slider down and being able to judge where the pitch is going to go?Comment

Yes. I'm super disappointed about this.
Is there ANY WAY this will be changed back in a patch!? I loved the guess pitch feature about this game

Re: I miss you Guess Pitch
I'm sure they can patch this back in, it's just strange that SCEA never remove old settings but this time they did.. Maybe they don't even know. But I played a few games last night, I paid attention to the pitcher and the pitches and I did much better.Mets in 2011, why not!!Comment
