Guys, guys, guys, I'm reading this trying to eat lunch and I'm seeing all sorts of confusion.
Let's clear this up. In previous versions of The Show, TIMING hitting was the default setting for hitting if I remember correctly. That's how I've been playing these baseball games for years. Just pressing either "X" to swing normal, "O" for a contact swing or "Square" for a power swing. The player's ratings dictate the outcome if the ball is well timed. The PCI automatically is placed when timed correctly in the TIMING hitting option.
This year, they added the analog as we all know. To me? Why fix what isn't broken? I'd rather let the player's ratings that SCEA gave them, dictate the action on the field. My stick skills shouldn't have to determine whether or not Josh Hamilton has a monster year in my franchise.
I'm too lazy, slow, unconcerned with moving my thumbs in 2 different directions all the while trying to make sure I stride properly right when the ball is coming out of the pitchers hand. It's a video game. I want to relax and have fun. I love baseball, I want it to mirror real life as much as possible.
But back to the hitting. The ZONE hitting as I've seen, is basically the same as TIMING, except you are adjusting the left joystick as to where the ball is in the strike zone.
The analog hitting as I've seen it, is basically a combo of both TIMING and ZONE with the proper striding as the ball is being released, moving the left joy stick to the proper location of the ball as well as releasing the right joy stick to swing.
Hope that clears the air on this hitting, and if I made a mistake which I might have let me know.
