So Rick..... In "Timed" hitting.... you are just pressing buttons, no L or R stick use? I always thought(previous years)that influencing a flyball(R stick pushed up) was giving you more Homerun power ..IF timed right. If I'm timing it right with just the buttons, do even need to push up on the R stick,.... basically just swing away?

Re: Talking 'Timing hitting'
Well the show has always been optimized for 720p even though some play at 1080.Oh my god I've figured it out boys. I know what *SOME* of our problems are! I Think.
So in the off-season of the show, I have gotten a big screen 50" TV. I think back and when I played on my friends big screen we couldn't hit to save our lives. I think that this has something to do with it. On my old TV that was a 25 inch it was perfect for hitting and gaming.
According to the above post, the frame rates are faster on a 50" TV something about switching from 1080 to 720; my old tv was 720! and when I play on my big screen now I cannot hit no matter what I try. I'm thinking this is the problem!Comment

Re: Talking 'Timing hitting'
Is it easy to switch my big screen to 720? I could never hit on my big screen; took the ps3 to a friends in the neighborhood and neither of us could hit on his big screen which must have been 1080 also... we thought it was REALLY weird.
But it wasn't in our heads. We went back to my 720 25" and we were hitting like normal.
So I think this is it. How do I switch my tv from 1080 to 720? Or is there a way?Comment

Well.... I've been using a 37" TV for the past 3 years, and I still see a difference in the hitting this year than in the previous installments of the game.Oh my god I've figured it out boys. I know what *SOME* of our problems are! I Think.

On your Ps3... go to settings, and go to your hd hook up... it gives you the option of what resolution you want.. 1080 or 720. My TV detects what game I have in and what the best format to play in. The Show advertises that it runs better in 720.Comment

Re: Talking 'Timing hitting'
Actually I went back and re-read what I wrote. I guess you didn't read or understand or are just nitpicking with me on what I wrote.
Are the fundamentals of the ZONE AND TIMING hitting the same? Yes. To hit with TIMING, you press which type of swing you like. ZONE hitting is using those same exact fundamentals with the added leg analog stick as to where the ball is being placed to hit it.
When did I say that with ZONE hitting you didn't have to adjust the left analog?Comment

Re: Talking 'Timing hitting'
Have you ever gone into your display settings and changed the setting to force 1080p? If not, then it's most likely that you are already playing in 720p. As long as you have the 720p block checked, The Show will default to that resolution. Is it easy to switch my big screen to 720? On a related note, wasn't your main issue with the PCI placement in timing hitting? If so, how would changing the resolution in anyway fix your problem? Now, more than everComment

Re: Talking 'Timing hitting'
HoF
The ONLY slider change I'm making is CPU strike frequency. I put it two clicks to the left. I noticed with it at default every pitch called a ball was about two inches off the plate.
I don't think I'm touching sliders
Strike zone: off
Variable calls: on
Batting view: default catcher
Like the one fellow kinda griped about: you can swing at a strike with a regular swing and miss even if you time it perfect.
It feels so perfect...SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: Talking 'Timing hitting'
And I get the feeling that you're trying to say there is no issue. And my answer to your question is I don't know what the issue is, except that there is one. Whether it be new coding, the big screen resolution; something is off. Something is causing this game to not work for me and a whole bunch of other people to the point of they don't want it anymore.Have you ever gone into your display settings and changed the setting to force 1080p? See there. So I'm just researching and finding ideas of what it could be.Comment

Whether it be new coding, a setting I have wrong (PCI), the big screen or high def resolution; something is majorly off and the game is basically broken. Something is causing this game to not work for me and a whole bunch of other people to the point of they don't want it anymore. It's aparently not effecting everyone but a large number of people are being effected by it. I can pull the quotes if I need to.

I thought things were too homer happy, too!
I hit 3 homeruns with a player in each of my first two games...then i toned down the powerComment

Re: Talking 'Timing hitting'
Timing is the same thing as MLB 10, except now the pci is placed based on the batter's skill level and it doesn't always just line it up for you.Comment

Re: Talking 'Timing hitting'
no L or R stick use. I never chose to influence the hit in the past up or down either in the Show in past years. So now I haven't been using L or R stick when I've been hitting.HedoRick ..... Re: Talking 'Timing hitting'
Yeah, I realize what you're getting at. You feel like the hitting is different than last year... that's because it is different than last year. And I get the feeling that you're trying to say there is no issue. The hitting option that we've all been using for years on The Show, a mixture of zone and timing, does not exist on this year's game. You might be able to replicate something similar to last year's hitting if you use zone hitting on an easier level, but I dunno.. I haven't tried this.
Aside from analog, there is now a timing only option, which relies heavily on timing and players attributes, and other thing to a somewhat smaller degree. It doesn't work exactly like last year, but I didn't have any trouble with it a HOF difficulty. There is also zone hitting, which relies heavily on PCI placement, timing, and the other usual suspects. Also not the same as last year.
You aren't going to be able to hit exactly like you did last year, because the hitting options aren't the same as last year. Though with a little practice, I'm sure most people out there can master the reasonable learning curve. Now, more than everComment
