    Re: Talking 'Timing hitting'

How does timing hitting work exactly? I have had numerous times with Josh Hamilton where I would check my timing via L3 button and it would say perfect but I swung and missed?

Quick question: How do you bunt in timing mode? The "controls" menu says it's triangle, but it does nothing when I press it before or during a pitch. I am playing with timing hitting on All-Star. Help please!

I believe at default it's up on RS. You can change it in settings.

Thanks, that's it. I didn't even think to use analog after I switched it to timing, especially after the menu says it's triangle.

It is you will not make solid contact with the ball playing zone hitting if you don't move your PCI over it.

That sort of condescending response just makes you look like an jerk. Obviously I'm aware perfect timing doesn't mean HR every time... I was looking for tips and/or help, and you responded, "That's baseball."

If you're looking for True Zone, I think you still have it.

All Russell is referring to is guys that can somehow get a piece of the bat on the ball to foul it off. That doesn't really kill True Zone.

I see the PCI as the solid part of the bat. You either center it perfectly or you miss a bit for a pop up or grounder.

The pitches fouled off (that are also off the PCI) are those pitches that hit off the end of the bat or off the handle.

That's how I see it at least. But, I'm not trying to correct you or change your mind. Enjoy the game. That's what matters.

No it wasn't condescending at all. Sorry you took it that way.
Simply saying just because everything was "perfect" that it doesn't mean the result is always good/great

Well, to me, your post perfectly described the frustration that can be baseball at times. Just stick with it, or if you are not liking the results, you could try one of the other hitting options.

Just played my first game with timing only hitting. What a blast. It really feels like the players play to their ratings more.

To me this makes the batter vs. pitcher confrontation that much better.. Trying to hit to the hitters strengths and be selective to get the right pitch.

This game just gets better and better for me.

Totally agree. Timing all the way for me anymore. Also I for some reason am waaay more focused when using timing only and was able to get more walks.

I love timing only. I want their ratings to matter, not my thumb movement. Get great hit variety and the power has felt about right. I don't know what the MLB avg is for XBH% but I'm getting around 30% of my hits going for extra bases, give or take a point.
