While I understand that I've had the game sitting since release and I don't see a point in playing the no training worked in my last 2010 franchise but will it work here?
Workarounds is like having to tap the gas 3 times and hold the brake while you do it in order to drive your car(I know doesn't make sense) but you just wanna be able to get in and goComment

Barnes,
Doing your testing did you notice how the player progression was across the board? Are those A & B potential guys still progressing signficantly enough that the existing MLB stars become less important? With training onOG.

No training delayed it by a year or two. As far as progression players progress sufficiently, the problem is how call ups are done sometimes they sit in minors too long. What the system does do well is that it keeps veterans that have years left instead of bringing a Guy up to sit.Comment

I honestly think it's something I'm just not seeing at this point. You've run 100+ tests so I'm inclined to believe your results more than my own few tests.July 31 is non waiver trade deadline. Trades after that the players need to pass through waivers. Trades can occur anytime just have to be by Sept 1 to be eligible for playoffs.
As to why you are not seeing this I am perplexed I just had my friend run a sim on his machine and he listed the names, similar to mine. He is emailing me pics.
Do you keep all settings at default just change the mode options to auto? I have a few things tweaked in my gameplay options from default:
Umpire balls & strikes - OFF
strike zone - off
using timing hitting, analog for the rest
pitching view set to pitcher
API off
Throwing decision - On
Fielding decision - auto
Baserunning decisions - auto
Sliding decisions - on
None of these should affect sim results but just another thing to try I guess...

I have a custom profile with everything set to auto and default for everything but difficulty. I use 30 team control and set all teams to custom 1. I DO NOT step in for any team. First off season things look ok. Second off season I see some prospects sprinkled in FA list. Third offseason All stars are FA. It is the spring 2014, I go to FA list and see the all-stars.I honestly think it's something I'm just not seeing at this point. Maybe those few sims I did were just lucky.
Do you ALWAYS get the allstars heading to FA in 2014?What would Doc do?Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise Issue Explained (With Pics)
I had ONE time I didn't, but I edited a roster and removed many of the original FA and replaced them with 23 year old C prospects. Then the free agent all-stars came a year after.
I tried editing a few more players and could never replicate it because I overwrote the edited roster. There were only a few names there. I took a pic.Reduced FA list test year 3.jpgAttached FilesComment

Re: 2013 Franchise Issue Explained (With Pics)
I am running a test sim controlling just 1 team. One thing I notice that is a bug in 30 team control even with all teams set to auto the team strategy never changes. Like playoff push etc. On single control it does. I also noticed traded happening at trade deadline with single team control. Never did I see that with 30 team.Comment

Yikes...I am running a test sim controlling just 1 team. One thing I notice that is a bug in 30 team control even with all teams set to auto the team strategy never changes. So we either choose 1 team control, and get realistic trade strategy...while losing the ability to manage contract renewal as a workaround...
Or use the workaround with 30-team control and loose the trade logic?
Am I reading this right? Is the FA pool a little neater in 2014 using 1 team control tbarnes? Or have you not tested that far yet?Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise Issue Explained (With Pics)
Maybe it's "better" with single team control but still not 100% fixed. Johnathan Sanchez is a good SP he really shouldn't be sitting in FA (unless this game simulates his mental breakdowns...I am running a test sim controlling just 1 team. ) but he's not all-star material.
I've never been a 30 team control guy but if we can do more tests, perhaps that will help the devs figure out the issue. What would Doc do?Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise Issue Explained (With Pics)
I've always used 1 team control in my tests. I think that's the biggest difference in settings. Look at my earlier post to see a pic of the FA in 2014 with single team control. My other sims with single team control have had a similar FA pool quality/size in 2014. In fact, it gets BETTER than the original FA pool you have (granted that still has vlad guerroro in FA and Pettite never retired).Yikes...

Re: 2013 Franchise Issue Explained (With Pics)
Well I don't think so. 30 team control is just that...as far as the cpu is concerned it thinks YOU are in charge of every team. It only does the other stuff. On single player mode you cannot change if you are going toward a playoff push etc.
Trading must be tied into that. I am now seeing trade deadline deals. Unloading vets for prospects when rebuilding etc...Comment
