I'd also put points into Discipline-that determines how well you do when the Game AI plays for you(simming).
I don't run the bases or play defense. I just hit. Training points isn't the problem. I actually have over 1,000 right now. I consistently spend it on contact, power, durability, and whatever I feel the need to increase. I always keep a decent amount in my pocket just in case I go through a cold spell and can't pass my goals.

I just gotta keep going and see what happens. Maybe i'll be a sept callup.

      Re: getting promoted in RTTS

my guy is getting the shaft from every which way. was a beast for Dodgers organization in AA, made all-star team, and was promoted to AAA. got a AAA offer for 2012, took it, and then was immediately made the backup SS. no matter what I did, I could not get promoted to the AAA starter and only had 140 ABs. 2013 the offer was for a AA contract, took it, and went on a tear again and was called up to AAA (complete with a $10K pay raise). was doing split time and batting around .340 just after the all-star break (not selected, but not really deserving either because I have 0 HRs...the dang ball just won't leave the yard in AAA!).

I then get traded to to white sox along w/ a pitching prospect for Alexi Ramirez. so I think I am now fast-tracked to making the MLB roster. oh no. despite hitting over .325 in the first 5 (yes only 5) games, being the #2 SS in the organization...I just got demoted back down to AA ball.

you've got to be kidding me.

my attributes are very well-rounded, but certainly not good yet. I fully expected to at least finish the season at AAA though. ~sigh~ I don't know what the RTTS engine wants from me...

        want to have:
        .310-.330 AVG
        30-40 HR
        100+ RBI
        and a Gold Glove

        any tips?
It's tough to get rookie of the year, usually if you have a lot of success in the minors you'll be in the majors before the end of your 3rd year (sometimes by the start of your 3rd year). This might sound crazy, but you might want to fail some of your goals in AAA when you feel like you're close to getting a call to try to extend your AAA time and continue boosting your ratings.

I finally got my role moved to AAA starter last night. I think that's really the key. You have to improve your role in the organization, and keep improving it. How do you do that? You have to improve all your attributes. I put points in advancement goals, but I also train all the other attributes. 40 at the start, 100 right now. Position Players-hitting, fielding and baserunning. Pitching-pitching attributes and fielding. You do that and not only will you be promoted to the majors, you'll keep improving you role in the majors.

              bump

Wow I think I got really lucky. I finished my first AA season. I wind up hitting about 390 with 30 HR's and over 100 RBI's. I get called up to AAA with about a week remaining in the AAA season. I play out the season, getting about 15 AB's. The AAA season ends, no playoffs, and they promote me to the Phillies.

I'm a 1st baseman so obviously I don't expect to be playing over Ryan Howard. I didn't. Not only did I get ZERO starts but I didn't even get a plate appearance throughout the entire month of September.

The off-season comes. I sign a 4 yr/2.5 mill contract to be a AAA starter. I play out spring training and never get a start. I go 2/23 and literally I got 1 AB every single game. i just couldn't get into any rythm. so what do they do with me? MLB bench? I was so mad. Now I'd have to sit behind Howard for at least a year and rot? i can't progress my player. i'd fail goals because i won't play much.

I couldn't have been more wrong. I didn't start the first 2 weeks but I told my manager I wanted some more playing time. A few days later he puts me in at 3rd base(my 2nd position) and I hit a home run in my 2nd AB. I kept getting a start or two every 5 or so games at 3B and eventually I completed all 4 of the goals. I went 9/18 with 2 HR's in my limited playing time and guess what my new role is? 1B starter over Ryan Howard for the phillies. LOL. howard was hitting like 350 with 4 HR's and he got benched in favor of me. now i gotta hold onto 1B and perform because they did warn me I have to to earn my position.

it only took 1 year for me to be a starter at the MLB level so yes it's possible to get there that quickly. my contact is about 60 with 75 power so I think I'll do ok as I continue to progress.

                Re: getting promoted in RTTS

Last year I didn't sign my contract out of spring training as a rookie and sat out the season. I signed with the twins in the off season and was put on the MLB roster for opening day.

Year 1: AA All-Star and Future's Game. ACL injury, out for rest of the year.
Year 2: Starts in AA, moved up to AAA ... All-Star MVP (walk-off 2-run HR), Future's game. (Traded mid-season from KC to BAL).

Every advancement period says basically "You're ready, but we don't have a roster spot."

I just started August 2012, so hopefully a September call-up.

Power hitting 2B (just creating a guy to use in a Royals franchise once Knight/OS roster arrive; KC needs a 2B to go along with the rest of "The Kids".

If you neglect fielding, that seems to affect the organizations overall view of your player. I don;t think it's like previous versions where power is everything.

Got traded shortly after the All-Star break to the Rays organization. Now at AAA Durham. Chugging along.
