um, you only need HDMI 1.3 for 3d. paying more than 10 bucks you are getting severely ripped off.

          Nope, there's no such thing.

The terms 1.3 and 1.4 have effectively been stopped, no longer are manufacturers allowed to specify the version type. All high-speed HDMI cables will support 3D when connected to 3D devices, you can use your existing ones if you'd like. All HDMI cables will support Audio Return Channel functionality when connected to Audio Return Channel-enabled devices. You can use your existing HDMI cables or choose a different cable type.

So basically all HDMI cables support 3D, as well as ARC. If you're getting more than $1/foot (up to about 15 feet) for an HDMI cable, you're getting extremely ripped.

Yup..bad news bbking26...you were definitely 'Best Buyed"

The markup on Monster cables is enormous, and so is the profit for the retailer (hence the push by the salesman).

See the cool thing about 'digital signal' is that its either on or off, there's no 'stronger' or 'weaker' signal, so there's no better cable that will provide a better signal...either the cable works or it doesn't.

www.monoprice.com is the bomb for all your cabling needs (and a bunch of other cool stuff too). I picked up 2 - 30' HDMI Cables from there for $32 each, and a 3' HDMI ran me $3.10.

The Monster question was sarcasm haha, but I also wanted to be sure the OP didn't completely go off what you said.

I always try and completely research all my products before finally making an investment. Okay now don't get me wrong, if you need a 100ft HDMI cable you will definitely want a sturdier cable of some kind, though it still doesn't have to be Monster. The only reason they're still in business is because people still keep buying their products, obviously lol. Their name matches their size and price, and the employees rep the heck out of them. It's a no brainer for them to mark up these prices if people will still pay for them.

Just make sure you do your research next time, and I'm only asking this because I'm referring to more than just HDMI cables. I'm talking about anything you are going to make a long-term investment in, cover all bases before you dive in. Best Buy employees, while I love the store itself, are equivalent to the GameStop guys making you place money down on Madden when you might have more, better quality options.

"Best buyed" hahaha That's where I got my $90 HDMI for like $9. All thanks to my boy that works there. If you know anyone who works there, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR DISCOUNT! Other than that, search the interwebs...
