I think I gave up Analog.. 1st game switching to timing: I lost 7-6 but I hit 3 HR's and drew 2 Walks which is rare for me. It was on Veteran so not a big deal but at least I had a good offensive game for a change.

My problem is the opposite of some of the posters. I'm scratching my head more for analog pitching. I don't see how effective amping up a pitch is. Rarely do I see my guy throw faster by 2 mph or so when I try to push up faster on the analog. It makes me wonder if I'm always amping up the pitch, but then I try to throw up as slow as possible and don't notice too much of a difference.

It's almost like why bother because if I get two strikes on a guy and try to let it fly, I'm more likely to miss on my lo***ion.
After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!

I notice this too, but it doesn't really bother me much. I'm kind of glad, because it would make analog pitching pretty annoying if I had to constantly focus on how quickly I was flicking the analog stick up.

Secondly, I'm not saying it would definitely be easier to hit a major league pitcher (though I am not sure of that). I'm saying that in my experience, it is easier for me to swing a long piece of wood at a small leather ball moving at 90 mph and make contact with it than it is for me to pull a friggin joystick back and connect with a bunch of small white pixels traveling from the top to the bottom of my television screen. It's just not fair.
On one hand you make a good point (I also play an over 25 wooden bat league, but I'm out with a hammy tear for 6-12 weeks before I can resume any more activities) that it is "harder" than hitting a real fast ball. I agree; but at the same time, you and I have been hitting balls in real life for the majority of our lives...we've been playing with analog hitting for less than a month. It's apples and bananas here.

Ah I see. You're saying the difference is minimal for the most part so you don't stress it? I think that's what I'm doing.

Also, in reference to batting, is it normal to take your step a little earlier when down two strikes? This is something I tend to do so I have a little more time to process the ball's lo***ion. Never played the game in real life, so I don't know if it's realistic to do or not.

I can't imagine any vets of this game are enjoying the analog stuff. Personally, I just don't understand the attraction to analog controls in any game but then again I'm 36 and pressing a button is how I play all video games. I'm really glad they have both options cause I just couldn't play if I had to go analog.

Re: Giving up on Pure Analog Hitting

My biggest problems with analog hitting:

                a) There is no combination "Zone Analog" hitting. I want to be able to directly control where I swing, not have it arbitrarily determined for me.

                b) There is no way to ever know if your stride was at the right time, practice modes give you no feedback on stride timing, and overall you are just pretty much completely on your own when it comes to figuring out how to use it.

This has probably been said before and I may be in the wrong thread to say it, but I have never really been able to ***ch on to hitting in this game since '09 on ANY method. I regularly play and I use Timing, but I came from the old EA series and although I can have some fun and some good games with the Show, batting, in particular is what drove me to play Manager Only Mode (Franchise) for 90% of the time. I got more enjoyment letting the cpu players play out their attributes on fantasy ******s.

Re: Giving up on Pure Analog Hitting

i HATED ANALOG hitting... until i did this.

put the analog to rookie, and adjust the power, contact, solid hits and timing sliders all the way to the right. Use camera catcher 3 or 4.... and just play. Once you start hitting the crap out of the ball, adjust the sliders. I upped the difficulty to veteran and kept the sliders at first.... then as i continued to hit 5-6 homeruns a game, with 18 hits.... i slowly brought the sliders down back to default. Starting with power, and contact... etc.

Right now, i find that my sweetspot is hitting on VETERAN with default sliders. Don't forget, you pull the right stick back AS THE PITCHER IS RELEASING the ball, then a quick flick up. I originally wasn't timing it properly.

anyways, this helped me, and i went from HATING analog hitting, to preferring it and loving it. just find your sweetspot

Bleh, I just want to enjoy and relax with the game when I'm playing. I don't care for analog hitting/pitching, etc. and I'm not trying to simulate real life. I just want to play old school and have fun. I didn't understand the need for this addition, but I guess there's people out there who like to play it this way. More power to them. However, if it ever becomes a pure analog game, that'll be the year I stop buying The Show...
