Re: Strike Zone On/Off. How are Hot Zones Effected?

I would really like to have an option where the hot and cold zone would flash up once during the beginning of each at bat. Just to get a quick glimpse and have to do it from memory after that.

Do you guys think Knight might know? I know he's a little busy at the moment, but if anyone has point blank posed this question to SCEA, Knight undoubtedly has! LOL!

Thanks again guys for the input.

I could have sworn I had to use 'select' one time in MOM mode? Oh, and L2.

Knight only uses X, 'select', and L2. That's like 3 times the amount you gave him credit for!

I'm 99% sure the way I explained it is how it works. Notice when you turn the srike zone off you'll see a little lock logo next to hot/cold zones meaning that it does no apply and when you have the strike zone on your able to turn hot/cold zones on or off depending on if you want to see them in game.

Maybe it only locks because the H/C zones graphic is attached to the Strike Zone, and nothing more.

If that was the case then I don't think it would say that hot/cold zones will be ignored. Look none of us are going to settle this until we get Russell or whoever to come on here and explain it to us.

Oh, yeah, I agree. Just grasping at straws here.

If you read my first post, you nailed it on the head...

The word 'ignored' is exactly what's tripping me up.

Yeah I am sure many of us were confused at first, including me, about this subject. I play with the strike zone on and hot/cold zones off so I only assume what I mentioned is how it works.

...or maybe it was flying monkeys with a bucket of water.

I asked this type thing with the "hit fly-ball influence" a while ago and still have never received an OFFICIAL answer.

I wish we could have an OFFICIAL answer thread, where questions like this were answered directly by SCEA.

This is exactly what it is. They are just saying the option to turn the graphic for "hot/cold zones" on will be ignored if you turn strike zone graphic "off"

Just think; how would turning off the strike zone graphic effect the ability to have hot/cold zones effect the gameplay ? It wouldnt. The effect it has is the ability to display the graphic overlay when strike zone overlay is off. Because the graphic is tied together. Hot zone display can not exist without the strike zone overlay.

What are the static/dynamic hot zones that nemesis04 was talking about? I have never seen a hot zone change for an individual unless they flipped around as a switch hitter.

Hopefully, asking yourself this question will absolve all doubt.

Sim players like the realism of having the strike zone off their screen. Would SCEA remove a realistic feature (hot/cold zones) if said sim player elected to, in fact, remove the visual indicator of the strike zone?

I've seen them change within an individual game.

That was the case in past years, but they changed a whole bunch of things with the hitting settings this year. And they have seemed to tie the effect of the H/C zones to whether you have the strike zone turned on. If what you say is true, then the wording that they included in explaining the settings is incredibly misleading.
