FYI,

I just learned that "bumping" threads isn't accepted on OS...the hard way.

I tend to believe that the hot zones stay static (like the select menu shows), as Nemesis_04 pointed out..regardless of whether or not the strike zone is off, or on. The more I play, and the more I read, the more more this tends to make sense to me.

It wouldn't really make sense otherwise. So I wouldn't worry whether or not you like to visually have KZone off. I was just curious, which is why I started the thread.

I'm sure the description means that when you turn OFF the strike zone, the setting for whether the hot/cold zone is on or off is ignored (always OFF).

Makes no sense to turn OFF the strike zone, and turn ON the hot/cold zone...you'd be revealing the strike zone by doing that.

I would really like to have an option where the hot and cold zone would flash up once during the beginning of each at bat. Just to get a quick glimpse and have to do it from memory after that.

Co-signing. This would be a great feature as long as it would be visible without a strike zone displayed.

I've seen them change within an individual game.

Did you have strike zone turned 'ON'?

I'm not sure how hot/cold zones are reflected in gameplay with strike zone turned 'OFF' but I still pitch to them.

I am 99.9% sure that i've had hot zones turned off(strike zone on) and have hit select and seen my hot zone be hot in a place where it was cold(aka dynamic) and in 100% sure that on mlb 10 it was dynamic even when off.

Just curious if anyone has actually tracked this or paid attention with hot/cold sections of strike zone.

Do you get most of your hits or higher BA when hit in hot zone? or does this even matter where the ball is and have more to do with pitch type and timing of your swing?

I've played since 09' and haven't tracked exactly where I get hits with specific players, but seems the hot/cold zones have no effect on when/where I get hits. I hit a lot of high and inside/outside pitches for singles/2B/3B and usually get the HRs (in 09'/10') on mistakes that hang near the middle (a lot more pop-ups tho). In places where specific players (all stars) have high hot zones, seems I rarely get hits. I have poped up more times than not in the hot zone areas with "perfect" timing.

Has anyone else noticed that the hot/cold zones don't seem to matter much?

I am 99% sure that it is just visual options you guys are talking about.

Strikezone ON means you will see an outline of the strikezone for each batters at bat.

Hot Zones ON means within the outlined strikezone you will see hot and cold zones on the screen during the at bat.

That is why if you have strikezone OFF, you cannot turn hot zones on because it would essentially be showing you the strikezone anyways with the squares of the hot zones.

It's purely visual. Hot Zones ON/OFF is purely for the display when batting/pitching. Turn it off and you have to use "select" to view the batter's hot/cold zones.

If you play with Hot Zones on you receive a slight bonus in contact or penalty if you swing and make contact with a pitch in a red or blue zone. Slight is the keyword here the bonus/penalty is very very minimal.
