No, that's not what I meant. That would be pointless.

I meant, is the dive button disabled once the suction animation kicks in? I'm curious, because their are times that the CPU dives in situations where they probably could have reached the ball standing up.

The game clearly has an abundance of tiered animations. I'd assume there must be a way to access the dive ones. I was more or less wondering if you could access a dive animation either right before, or during the suction. (This, under the assumption that an out will be recorded regardless...barring an error)

Mainly, if so, it would add a little variety for manual fielders. Not that there's an inherent need to force a dive, but if I wasn't seeing them, I'd still attempt to initiate them if at all possible for the sake of realism.

Re: Diving for flyballs in the outfield

This is my first year playing the show and I have to say that I'm prety dissapointed in the lack of user diving plays when fielding. With the 2k series, diving in the outfiled was average at best, but it was actually better than the show's.

I've tried diving for quite a few balls in the outfiled only to have them go over or under me - in each case I actually had a pretty good angle for the ball too. I tried setting the fielding to "automatic" to at least see my guys make some nice defensive diving plays but automatic is just no fun and not worth the few and far between diving plays.

Only when I'm up a few runs will I try to actually dive again. I have made a couple of infield diving plays that were nice, but none in the outfiled.

Fielding in the outfiled is just too "robo" for me.....other than that I love this game! Hope the developers fix this.

In 4 years or whatever I have never made a diving catch in the outfield. I have tried.. but its never close. The players basically just lay down and don't move their glove towards the ball.

My last game i had to dive three times all in left field with Crawford to
Caught the first two but the third one went past him but thankfully Jacoby was right there so the runner didn't get a triple.
