Anyone else more proud of getting 4 bbs than 4 HRs in a single game?

Of course my first game since posting in this thread the opposing starter goes 7 only throwing 65 pitches. I struck out a total of 17 times in a10 inning game, starter had 9, relief 5 and the closer 2. I didn't draw a single walk but I did hit my first ever walk off HR.
Baby steps. I was in kind of hurry.

I think the key with this game compared to past year's is analog hitting. The fact that two physical motions are needed to swing encourage patience. Especially when compared to last year when, quick hit a button and, oops, too late; that slider's three feet outside.

      I love it.

I think I've hit my sweet spot for my sliders, and I'm getting great results. It was difficult being able to cut down on the strikeouts this year, and I didn't wanna mess around too much because I was getting really good hits/runs results. But for some reason, instead of grounding out, flying out, etc, I was striking out double digits each game. And I consider myself pretty patient at the plate. I can get the CPU pitcher up over 100 pitches in the 6th inning. Last 3 or 4 games, I've struck out about 5-6 times... much better!

But about walks: hell yeah. They're rewarding. Even more rewarding, when you can capitalize on the free base by getting him to come around to score!

Funny that I just saw this. In my last game against the Cardinals, I hit home runs in the second and fourth innings and walked in the seventh and ninth with Jason Werth. One hell of a game to take Carpenter down one.

Depends on the pitcher but I'm traditionally very patient in "The Show". In my last game against Verlander I worked 7 walks, but scored only 1 run on a solo shot.

But to be honest, I dig the Long Ball and don't really care how I get on base...

I too impress myself with a walk rather than a home run. So far through 10 games i've managed 2 walks lol, ridiculous.

I've been doing really well in this area lately. Last two games combined I'm 10 K's to 8 BB's.

I was up to 18 strike outs vs. the Phillies in a 14 inning game. Promptly shut off the PS3, thought about throwing the controller like a petulant child.

I'm SO EFFING TIRED of striking out on MOTHEREFFING change-ups. My team was 6-for-46 when I shut it off.

I just cannot get a ******* realistic offense going. My team's batting like .176 or something horrid like that. It's depressing the living crap out of me... I've played the same game vs. the Phillies 4 times now.

Hate hate hate. It's so gd depressing to love a game and be so terrible at it. It's not fun any more.

Had my first 4BB game just last night. I can't remember getting so excited while playing The Show.

Have you tried waiting on the changeup? If a pitcher starts to rest on a pitch for me, I look for it, wait on it, and then hit it for what it's worth. Take a lot of pitches and make the pitcher work for you. Also, you have to remember that the onus is on the pitcher to get you out, not the other way around. Don't make it easier for him.

In your next game, I'd suggest always taking the first pitch even if it is a strike down the pipe. Start looking for your pitch, then let it fly. It should help in your strikeout rate.

I just set a personal record with 6 BB, but I did strikeout 8 times. I actually got three walks in a row, late in the game. Unfortunately, only I only got one run out of it.
