How to build a pitcher? RTTS '11

just got the game... looking to start a RTTS with a starting pitcher, i know last year in order to get your guy to throw in the 95+ mph range you had to build him a certain way...

any quirks this year? i like to build a guy:

4 seamer
2 seamer
curve
slider
change

with as fast a 4 seamer as possible. i see this year as soon as you start there are 3 sliders(stamina/power, control/movement, balanced/dominnat) i put the first all the way right, the second in the middle, and the third 3/4 to the right.

i know there is a RTTS thread, but its like 100+ pages and i was frustrated looking through it and just reading about nothing

Well, I was able to make a A overall starter in only 2 years, so here's my advices-Put all non-advancement goals in control till you get it pretty high, then put it velocity. I only put points in break after both control and velocity were 99 for all pitches. This will also put points in BB/9, HR/9, and K/9. You'll also need to periodically put points in H/9. The manager will let you go even after you're out of energy so Stamina isn't as important. A big key is to go for CG shutouts if you can. 300 points otherwise,900 with those.

the velocity issue from 10 is no longer present, so if you want to start out with a changeup or curveball then go for it. no worries. I started out with a 4 seam, slider, and circle change and used Pedro Martinez's delivery (generic #79). I have since added a 12-6 curve, and debating about adding a cutter or 2 seam fastball.

for sliders, I think I'd recommend emphasizing power, control, and balanced to start out. I usually try to get my /9 stats all up to about 60-70 before adding points to control. once I get control up to about 60-70, I'll get my 4 seam velocity up to about 95-97mph, then go back to continue maxing my /9 stats, then maxing control, then velocity and break.

there certainly isn't a "wrong" formula, but it seems like /9 affect performance the most. also seems like they make your "overall" value increase fastest.

This is a pretty good path, but I learned that if you want to get to the majors early, you need to put points into the per 9 attribibutes first and foremost. My dude made it to the majors in July of year one when I put my points into those. Once up there, I worked on everything else.

This is with the Caveat that I got my fastball velocity up to mid-90's before doing the per 9's.
