    Just kidding.

I had pitch speed at 3 for a very long time. Don't let anyone tell you how to enjoy the game unless they helped you pay for it.
Says the man who has the Timing slider at 10.

I started using Bob's sliders this past weekend, and saw an immediate change in more balls hit down the lines, for both me and the CPU batters (and both the pull field and the opposite field).

In his sliders, he has pitch speed up, I'm going to move it back down, I'm still pretty late. And when I try to cheat on a fastball and start early, I pull it foul. I can hit up the middle and the opposite way pretty well, but I'm not pulling the ball well at all. I'm hopeful that lowering the pitch speed a bit will help my recognition (that's why I'm late, I'm watching the pitch and seeing it, but taking too long to decide).

I lowered it to 3 when I first started playing, but I've bumped it back to 4 with really good results. There are many people who might tell you different, but I feel that the pitch speed was too high to start with in the first place. BTW, I still play with zone hitting FYI.

I had it at 3 for a while but had to drop down to 2 after the last patch. It's all personal preference and there's no right or wrong answer as to what pitch speed should be. If you can handle it at default or higher, cool. If you need more time to read pitches, drop it and enjoy your game. I still strikeout a bunch, so I definitely don't feel like I'm cheating the game in any way.

Is there a thread that shows what was done with each patch that has come out? I've had pitch speed at 3 for a long long time now and now that some of you mention it... it seems like I'm hitting less home runs and pulling the ball a lot less the last couple of weeks. I'm wondering if I'm a little later due to the patch as well. Could all be in my head, I don't know.

Totally agree. Unfortunately for me 0 is still a little too fast and I get too frustrated over high strikeouts and virtually no walks. I wish the Show used a 20 point slider system and gave us more control over the sliders. I'd love to use -2.

Re: Make me feel better about lowering the pitch speed.

If I had something I could implement in MLB 12, it would be a larger slider scale, and that the sliders have a much more pronounced effect. That way if I want to make it so my pitchers can thread a needle on every pitch, so be it. Add to this a separation of sliders CPU/Human.

I play with pitch speed on 0, I'd like to play with it at -2 to -4 I think. I don't feel bad in the least. I'm not playing for everyone else to enjoy (though I might finally startup a Cubs Franchise post, at the least , I'll start posting in the "update" thread.) As my sig says, Play your way, if you aren't having fun, what's the point.

To reiterate my first point. MLB 12 needs to be all about customization, sliders, players, everything. Contracts, Potential, Attributes, everything. I'd love to see separate defense ratings for each position, like 2k11, OR, have secondary positions just be checkboxes so if you want a guy to be a LF, who also only plays RF, C, 2B... then so be it. Expand it to the team level too, let us edit the budget for each team. Let us make MLB 12 OUR game, however good or bad you might think OUR version is

anyways, off my soapbox, put pitch speed at 0 if that is what makes the game fun, period.

That is one of the nice things about 2K's game is that you get a nice range in terms of sliders. Being able to set Pitch Speed anywhere from 0-100 is huge.

I will say that with the ability to customize batting cameras this year, it is easier to read/pickup pitches than it was in previous years with The Show. I've drawn 29 walks in 11 games in my Mets franchise. Last year, I don't think I had 20 walks in over 80 games played with the same team.

Re: Make me feel better about lowering the pitch speed.

I've been saying that for years, Neo. If I set pitch speed at 0, I want the pitch to take two and a half minutes to come in. No one would ever want to play like that, but that gives a range that allows everyone to find a setting that works for them.

2K does a great job with this (for the most part), at least in NBA 2K. When I set the shooting sliders to 0, it is impossible to make a shot.

After two games I'm convinced that Veteran with pitch speed at 0 is perfect for me.

Re: Make me feel better about lowering the pitch speed.

I'm still on rookie hitting <--- that's my pride :P

Pitch speed 0, and I was trying out that camera angle of putting it offset to the inside, and...it was working, then I fell off a train it seems and was late on everything, couldn't hit at all. I went back to my centered custom camera (basically a wide preset, dropped down a touch to help with low pitches) and I upped my solid hits slider a few notches (from 2 to I think 5) and I started to see those hits again. I might fiddle with lowering my contact slider just a smidge to compensate for the better contact I'm making. I think my problem is I'm a hacker, and I'm making so much contact on bad pitches due to my high contact slider, that I can't do anything with them, but upping solid hits made those bad choppers into line drives down the lines and what not. So I think by lowering my contact slider a couple notches or few, it'll help me make less overall contact, but the ones I do make contact on, I"ll hit "better".

                        Or am I just crazy?

Pitch speed on fastballs changed after the last patch. I currently have it on 3 and had to go away from analog which I didn't want to but it had to be done.

Before the patch I had pitch speed on four while using analog and never had any problems. Now I'm at 3 and switched to timing as analog is all messed up after patch for me.

The pitches dont seem fast at all to me on default. If anything it feels like a delay when my player throws a pitch

That's what I play on. Nothing wrong with it. As long as you enjoy the game and are having fun, who cares if others can destroy the computer at the highest level and you have to play on the lower levels? Just enjoy your experience with the game, not let it frustrate you. Where's the fun if you are frustrated because the level of difficulty?

Same thing happened to me. I, too, didn't want to abandon Analog (heck, I bought the new MLB-themed controller b/c I wanted a controller JUST for MLB The Show and Analog controls) but I also made the move to Timing after the last patch.

I had the pitch speed set where you had it, too. I'm at 2 now and am enjoying the game, although I wish I were using Analog controls. In an unrelated note, I had to give up on Analog pitching, too, so now I'm just down to Throwing/Fielding

I'm hoping (since this issue is being discussed in the 1.16 thread) that Ramone or Woodweaver will chime in and give us a more detailed explanation as to what was changed with Analog hitting after the update and what we can do to tweak things to get back to that pre 1.16 feeling.
