Probably input lag on your TV.

I would at least check into this. I was having trouble with my Samsung LCD connected via HDMI (even with the tv's "game mode"). Anyway once I got that sorted out, lag (and swinging late at everything) was no longer an issue.

Unfortunately for me I still cant figure out how to hit this year, and its driving me crazy

I would go into Home run Derby- If your still swinging late, then theres a good chance it's your TV settings.

Also, if you lower pitch speed won't that mess up stealing (it would become even easier to steal bases).

This is an interesting question. I would think because pitch speed only changes the way the speed of the pitch looks and not the actual mph, the game would see a 95 mph fastball as a 95 mph fastball on 3 pitch speed, or on 7 pitch speed. But this is interesting.
