Does the CPU hit great late in every game?

I'm just trying to see if anybody else in the forum is experiencing this too. It seems like every game I've played in so far is close right up 'til the 8th or 9th. And then the cpu team starts to hit every pitcher I can throw out there no matter what.

Its to the point that I can feel it coming when the game gets late. Top reliever, setup guy, elite closer...whatever. It never fails my teams lose late.

    This happening to anybody else?
    The Lord is my shepard.

Are you getting too comfortable with a late lead and throwing too many hittable pitches? Throw them some pitches they can't hit and i'm sure you'll get a couple K's.

sometimes it doesnt matter WHERE you throw it.

You can throw a pitch inside and on the corner at the bottom and if the game is on one of it's runs, it's gonna hit it for a homerun. And when you look at the location, you'll see the cpu PCI dead on where you threw the ball.

Using Tigers: Benoit's ERA is 0.98 (something like 23 appearances) and Valverde's 10 for 10 in save ops .... so, no.

(Team ERA something like 4.68 for reference.)

True but the AI is pretty intelligent in this game. If you become too predictable with your pitches they'll smack you around. If you struck out the previous 2 guys on low inside fastballs the next batter is gonna lock on to that. You can pitch great the whole game if you don't throw too many strikes and you mix up your pitch sequences

The short answer is yes. The more frustrating thing is when the computer decides it wants to come back it will. I can always sense it before it happens. It's usually indicated by the strike zone becoming extremely tight where you are forced to hit the sweet spots of the plate for strikes. This game is really good but only to a certain point. I know I'm the 57373747822 person to say this but it always has a scripted feel to me.

I noticed it was scripted when a bench player hit a two-run go-ahead home-run against my RTTS pitcher coming out of the bullpen in the 8th inning in my first year in the bigs. It was to the opposite field. On a pitch off the handle.

I'm not speaking of a single occurrence. I'm speaking of the times when it shows up when I have a more than 1 run lead. Poor contact, poor timing line drive gappers with RISP can be very frustrating. Especially when my ace is throwing a gem and all the sudden the lid blows off in the 5th or 6th inning. When Roy Halladay hits a 550 ft homer with the bases loaded when I have a 5 run lead it can be kind of suspect.

I haven't put 100's of hours into this game like some others have so maybe I'm just seeing freak circumstances. I don't have time to I can just pick up and play once in a while. I do think this is a game where if you can't be hardcore about it then don't play it.

Well then I have some bad news for you....you're imagining things.
There simply is NO mechanism in the game that says..."Team A is wining something must be done to get Team B ahead in the game".
                          It's just not there.
                          I'm sorry.

I never felt there is a comeback code or anything. The game is for the most part well balanced IMO (though the confidence might have a tad too much effect...).

You are actually expected to perform worse after a few times around the batting order. This is so even in real life. So if this is what you are experiencing, it just shows evidence that the game AI is fantastic. It's catching up to how you play in late innings. Don't blame the game before you do your homework... there are great threads in the forum on how to approach late innings.

If the game is as easy in late innings, that means AI is too dumb to read your patterns... You don't want that sort of old school game any more... The game has just gotten that good; you have to be smarter and need to work for it.
