For the people who tried this view and are now apparently crushing the ball - are you playing analog hitting? Just curious.NHL, Madden, The Show, and a big Minnesota sports fan.Comment

Re: A nice little adjustment: hitting camera offset to the inside...
Custom, then used the offset preset, except I swung it around to the inside of the plate... Then zoomed it in to get a better look at the ball... Then lowered it with the L-stick and tilted it up with the R-stick, to get a decent look at low pitches while still having some sense of depth...
Basically these adjustments attempt to give you the best chance at reading both speed and location. I always shunned the offset view because it seemed too unusual, but then it dawned on me to try this and it worked pretty well.
I've seen offset to the inside in other games before... MVP maybe? I forget. The nice thing about MLB 11 is the ability to adjust it exactly to your liking. It's sorta like having your own batting stance.
Do you set two seperate presets for LH & RH batters? Or does the view automatically "shift" when you have a different handed batter?Comment

Re: A nice little adjustment: hitting camera offset to the inside...
Yes I am using analog hitting. The only problem I am having is that pitches in the middle look away to me so I keep swinging the stick to the outside on some of them and fouling them off or missing them. I am sure once I adjust and see enough pitches from this angle it will fix itself.Comment

Re: A nice little adjustment: hitting camera offset to the inside...
I use timing, and I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm hitting the ball any better overall, just that this view gives you more realistic results. Because tough match-ups become a bit tougher, and so it sort of balances it out.
No it'll shift on it's own.All ties severed...Comment

Why didn't I think of this before?
I'll try it with my camera I have in place, see how it looks.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: A nice little adjustment: hitting camera offset to the inside...

I working with this INSIDE VIEW. It's offset a tad bit more than spit-bubbles and is not zoomed in as much. If anybody likes it, I can post the settings. I made it easy to replicate.
In this picture, young A-Rod stance hugs the plate just enough to almost not see the release of the pitch. But that makes it feel like real life more. If you have a batter who really leans out there over the plate (like Ricky Henderson), you might have to lessen the offset.Last edited by Geronimo22; 05-13-2011, 04:03 PM.Madden Breakdowns Full YOUTUBE Playlist

Re: A nice little adjustment: hitting camera offset to the inside...
Just swept the Angles 3-0 after adjusting to offset. I batted like .328 and struck out like 8 times. I no longer check swing on almost every swing. I am no longer swinging at every high middle fastball; still swinging at some.
Its a small sample size, but I think this is the best tip since I switched to game mode.
But I moved the camera inside with the L stick instead of angling it. Then lowered it with L stick and angled it up with R stick. I adjusted it only a little bit, like your photos. The tip of the plate is now lined up with the edge of the pitching rubber. And zoomed in about the same as your photo.Originally posted by banned memberMy [RTTS] goals are to improve my bunting and drag bunting. Re: A nice little adjustment: hitting camera offset to the inside...
I tried to recreate this view and have had troubles. I feel as if I over-do the offset or zoom in too far. I would love a step by step tutorial or possibly even a video to follow. This is a grand idea, I will give it some more tries tonight.Brewers | Golden Eagles | Packers | Bucks | Badgers | Fulham FC

Re: A nice little adjustment: hitting camera offset to the inside...
I don't think you really need to replicate the camera exactly as I have shown, just get it to where it feels right for you. The whole idea was to get it so the view was more over the inner half than down the middle, so that you could see the trajectory from the side and read pitches more realistically.
I suggest tweaking it ever few hitters or so until you get in that comfort zone. All ties severed...Comment

Re: A nice little adjustment: hitting camera offset to the inside...
i tried to do this today and all i got was catcher something or other after it was all said and done and couldn't get out of it. so a step by step instruction for those of us that are struggling setting this up would be greatly appreciated."Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment

Re: A nice little adjustment: hitting camera offset to the inside...
Holy Cow.....Great Find.
Such a simple change but boy does it make a difference.
Like others have mentioned it really lets you read pitches better out of the pitchers hand.
You can see if sliders are going inside or fastballs outside....it just gives a great perspective.
However the best thing about it is when facing left handed pitchers with left handed batters.
Every time i had this matchup my head would hang as i knew what was coming.....k time.
But as above this really does give you a great look from the hitters point of view and lets you track balls so much better.
I even hit a HR off a lefty last night.....so i am

Re: A nice little adjustment: hitting camera offset to the inside...
I've been complaining about this for years. I made a couple of threads about it before someone told me about the thread. This, along with strike frequency, should be the first two things changed and then the sliders should be adjusted. The game is being reverse engineered about a faulty batting view. Here's my view....the strikezone far side cuts the pitcher in half. I also use the batter's eye for more depth of field.Attached FilesComment
