How do you check swing? (Analog Hitting)

I've tried and tried and everytime no matter what I always swing.

Only 2 times that I have checked swing and I don't even know how in the world I did it...I did it last night and I tried doing it again but to no luck.

Followed the tutorial but still swing!!!

I'm not quite sure how to explain it.. I guess I just let go of the stick as soon as I realize it's not a pitch I want to swing at.

Obviously, you need to catch yourself as soon as possible. You're usually not going to be able to hold up in time if you go all the way up, and if you do, there's a good chance it won't be successful.

Are you currently triggering any check swing animations at all?

Nope. Everything is swings and only those 2 that were check swings and I don't even know how it happen.

Last night I think I made the analog stick go for 1/4 of a spin to the left but really don't know.

Funny though because in MLB 10, I made a thread here about me check swinging way too much but this year is the opposite.

This is how I do it as well.

I cannot really stop swinging by holding the stick in the midst of moving it forward, so I just gently touch the stick but when I don't actually wish to fully swing after committing, I just move the thumb up away from the stick (in the direction the stick is normally sticking up) to let it go.

Hard to explain it accurately, just don't complete the motion. Pull down to start the stride then, instead of pushing the analog all the way up, just don't. If you move the analog only back to center and don't go up with it at all, you'll check your swing.

I have no idea what you mean here. Spinning the analog?

Also, if you have an old broke in controller, it's possible that it's not that accurate anymore so it's reading that you've pushed up on the stick.

Hmm.. that's weird. Check swings were actually one of the things that helped the new analog hitting win me over. I was always good at check swings with button hitting, but it just felt more natural and fluid with the stick.

Here's the best way I can explain a typical check..

When the pitcher is just about to release his pitch, I pull back on the stick

In the case of most check swings, my initial reflex is to swing, so I begin to push up and time my swing

At this point, the pitch is probably about half way to the plate(maybe even further..), I notice it's a pitch I don't want to swing at, and I haven't completed my upstroke just yet

Now it's just a matter of how quickly you're able to stop your swing, while letting your thumb of the stick. You don't need to worry about pulling back on the stick.. it's just a matter of how fast you can stop your swing.

This is the only aspect of analog hitting I struggled with, letting go ASAP of the stick would be your best bet but its tricky.
