    Re: Aggressive vs Patient Hitting

I definitely started off as an aggressive hitter, almost to the point where I would swing at anything and everything. I found my problem though was the guess pitch. I would guess fastball virtually every time. Anytime I saw that I had guessed right, I couldn't help but swing at the pitch, no matter where it was.

So I turned guess pitch off, and it forced me to actually read what was coming in. I get more hits now and strike out exponentially less.

This is my first year with "The Show" and the more I play the more patient I've become.

It was tough when I first started this game. It was like I was swinging at everything trying to keep it from leaving the strikezone. I had no patience or plate discipline. I applaud the guys who don't touch the sliders but I had to lower pitch speed and pitcher consistency a tad to give me alittle time to read the pitches or I'd be striking out 12-15 times a game against even a mediocre pitcher.

I don't always take the first pitch. If it's fat I'm swinging. If it's knee high and I have less than 2 strikes I don't swing unless it's a curveball and no matter how hard I try I can't lay off that. I've cut my strikeouts to 3-6 per game now but I still have the occasional double digit strikeout game.
