It has been explained many, many times (perhaps you should read the thread) the game is very attribute driven. On plays such as that, fielding, hitting, etc. the game dictates results based on attributes through many varying calculations. It's the only way to simulate an error.

If you think about it, an error is random - whether it be real life or in the game. If you think errors are coded to happen more frequently at certain times then you are incorrect.

FWIW - pickoffs need to rely on more input from the user in the future. This is something the developers know. There is no point in going on about it - but know that they know b/c it has been discussed with them.

I don't understand. People asking me for examples? I spent a whole lot of time discussing timing with Knight and I don't recall him asking me for examples, though I did ask him for percentages. This seems like a one-way attack on me, seems like picking and choosing.

I stated earlier that I have done those pickoff throws many times before and I know how to do it. There was nothing "peculiar" about what I did on those two pickoff attempts. Two pickoff throws, two wild throws.

Isn't hitting attributes a big factor in Timing? Doesn't Pujols have better hitting attributes than most other players? Doesn't that mean Pujols should have a higher success rate against pitchers with perfect swings in the hot zone? There can be no percentage that applies to all hitters in terms of Perfect swing versus Perfect pitch using Timing. I guarantee you if the CPU had Pujols, then he wouldn't be getting over 75% negative at bats with perfect swings.

And I said we are not talking averages. The discussion between Knight and me had nothing to do with batting averages. Someone jumped in about averages and I replied as I did because we were not talking batting averages.

You still seem to be missing the point. The pickoffs are entirely ratings based. Akin to you rolling die and getting snake eyes on back to back rolls.

I don't know any other way to explain to more clearly to you. It's by chance what happened to you, happened to you.

If you attempt an aggressive pick off you are also risking an error, okay to do a lazy pickoff move just to throw over. Every time does not have to be a pickoff per say

By the way, my biggest concern is not the wild throws, the earned run off two errors (wild throws on pickoff) is. Is that a bug in the game or not, meaning the earned run on an error?

I'd like to add to what he said. The game has ( I think ) 3 different types of pickoff moves. I think they each carry a varying degree of risk when it comes to if the throw will be bad, so.. If you do the quick pick off, you're more apt to make a bad throw.

Yes, there are three types of pickoff moves. What I'd like to know is if the earned run off an error is a bug in this game?

Rule can be interpreted many ways it seems

He is considered a pitcher when he has the ball and has at least one foot on the pitcher's plate, otherwise, he is a fielder. If he steps off the plate to attempt the pick-off, he is considered a fielder, and if the wild throw goes into dead ball territory, the runner(s) are awarded two bases. If he steps toward the base from the pitcher's plate to attempt a pick-off and the wild throw goes into dead ball territory, the runners are awarded one base, because he is considered a pitcher. ("one from the rubber, two from the field"). If the wild throw stays in live ball territory, runners may advance at their peril to be put out.
An advance to a subsequent base against the peril of being put out should be considered and earned base, unless there is an error by a fielder other than the pitcher. Runs so scored should be counted as earned. I do notice that few rule books (from amateur leagues) include the Rule 10 on the official scorer. Check your league rule book or official scorer guidelines.

I checked the bug thread and someone posted of what should be an unearned run was scored an earned run.

In my situation, the wild throw to first resulted in the runner going to third base--the wild throw was not in play, and the next pickoff attempt resulted in another wild throw that allowed the runner to come home. Thus, it appears to me the run should have been unearned if I understand what you posted.
