Many times I've had perfect timing on a pitch (a strike) low in the zone and I swing over it. There's simply nothing that can be done about that since we can't lower the PCI in pure analog hitting. That was my only complaint about it. Zone analog in MLB 12 seems like it will fix this but I'm afraid that it might be too complex for me to be successful with that mode.
Maybe that isn't what it's called... I use Zone setting and press "X" to swing... Does that help?

      For me, it's timing.

I started with analog and did enjoy it, but the fact I hit from the outfield/broadcast view did cause a bit more difficulty. What I've gone to recently is "zone" hitting, but I usually don't move the cursor at all. Like others, I have noticed that I do a better job of getting around on pitches when pressing a button instead of using the analog stick.

Are you moving the LS at all to aim where to swing or just hitting X?

I get it. Basically its the way a lot of people hit in past versions of The Show before they added the Timing option last year.

I did this in MLB 09-10, where I would just press X to swing and never touched the L-stick to move the PCI.

Always been a Timing man, simply because i like to let the player ratings matter as well as my own skill.

Re: Hitting: Timing, Analog, or Zone?

I'll probably just do timing. I find that better because that way I can worry about pitch type and location and not the precision of my left thumb.

Timing only, classic pitching, and auto fielding. As close to sim as I can get.

Re: Hitting: Timing, Analog, or Zone?

I typically only play RTTS (mainly to live out my fantasy of being a pro baller and not having money problems). I like using analog hitting for it, since I'm only concerned about my player. I'm in total control with analog and if my stats are awful, it's because I'm hitting bad, not because some player's ratings are poor.

                    Is it the 6th yet??

Yes. That's what I've been using and that's what I think I'll probably stick with in MLB 12. It just seems to me that using both analog sticks (for analog zone) would be a bit too complex. My thumbs would just feel jumbled and awkward.

Re: Hitting: Timing, Analog, or Zone?

By design is zone hitting supposed to be the most difficult? I have always played with zone but when I use timing it seems a lot easier. I realize zone hitting gets tougher as you move up the ladder veteran, all star ect.....Does it break the strike zone into more zones to make it more difficult? Meaning veteran may only have 4 zones but all star may have 9? I am not real sure how it actually works?

Zone analog. It's the most challenging and rewarding while still being realistic

I have not tried zone/analog yet. I like zone even though it can be very frustrating at times because I really have to focus. I know a lot of it depends on me but the players ratings do still matter. You have more room for error with the good players.

For those that use zone+analog, when u do adjust the PCI?? Pre-pitch, or after the pitch is thrown??

what i do sometimes is try to think with the pitcher or guess, but not with L2 button. For example, say I am facing a right hander whose best pitch is a slider and im down 2 strikes. What i'll do is push the left stick to the right before it is even thrown.
